When I hit snowshoe at 80k+, I only have to drop to 17th. I don't hit the bottom that fast either. Thanks to Mr Haney:biggrin_255:

You're right engine stroke and piston dwell time doesn't have anything to do with smoke, but it does make a difference in the cylinder pressures. Cylinder pressures do make a difference in cylinder temperatures. Cylinder temperatures makes a difference in how the fuel is burnt..........at least this is what I was always told.......maybe I was told wrong. Maybe the things I've read over the years were wrong.........#### I'm gullible:biggrin_25524:

I shoulda went ta school for a beter edjucation, so my comprehensin skils woulda bin beter.........slow down next time ya type your words..... so I's rekin I can get a beter grasp of what ya's sayin'

So CAT didn't increase the stroke on the C15 Acert when compared to the earlier engines for any reason that could have been related to the emissions emited from the engine? Why would they mess with an engine design(bore & stroke 3400 series) that has been around since the stone age in your eyes?

You're constantly comparing your Euro Emission engines to ours and how to build Hp. I'm willing to bet your engines have a much higher injection pressure, whether they're a Electronic Unit Injector and definitely a Common Rail fuel system than our engines. But of course this wouldn't have a net effect in the smoke produced as a byproduct of Hp either.

I'm limited by the size of the barrel and plunger with the injectors I have to use in my engine. As the orifice size increases for more fuel and a faster injection cycle(this would be the way to add fuel) I still have to maintain the proper pressure at the tip for the needle of the injector to function properly. I guess I need you can show me how to install a 12 mm plunger in the stock injector body to increase fuel pressure at the tip, than I could put very large orifices in the tips for a faster injection cycle for the same amount of Hp. The faster injection cycle would increase the amount of time to burn the fuel completely for less smoke...........am I's a thinkin' correctly? Does ya has a beter idear?

If as you say no one here in the USA can tune an ECM properly for Hp, but you can over there............you need to come over here and show everybody that you can build a better tune.........just look at how fast you'd become rich in this free market economy with your superior product and knowledge.

Just alittle between shifts. Maybe I can add more fuel if I get a European turbo. Just kidding, I'm a solid customer and will call ya when the time comes.

W900 I only had 13 Gears and the last 2 were OD on the Trans and 13th I could not use til at least 75 MPH called it was .5 to 1 top gear. I Cruised all day in 12th at 1500 RPMs and it loved it and would get about 6MPG day in and out. Now if I stomped it and gave her all she had 4.5 MPG for that tank. But man she would Climb like a cat chasing a Squirrel up a tree but the Cat had a Rocket up its ###.

I figured it was a 13 not to mention they liked higher rpms. I do find the 1.3 million on a 444 pushing 850hp hard to believe but if so somebody has content for a couple of months of articles

W900 aslong as you don't keep her at theree all the time she will live. This engine had 1.1 BEFORE its first O/H and only needed it because I melted it DOWN when my mother had a Heart Attack luckily she was in the hospital already her heart had done a couple things on the Operating table during a Carpal tunnel proecure and they kept her overnight. Well the next day ALL HELL BROKE LOOSE so to speak. She had the heart attack including the Crash cart needing to be broken out.

I called in at the KY welcome center on I-24 I was coming home with a load of Plastic Bottles for a Peanut Butter plant in my hometown. I told the boss tell IL I am coming in hot and heavy get to the IL line 2 bears waiting for me get a call Orbit we are your Escorts they said Stand on it. I DID put her to the freaking wall and left her there. what I did not know was I had a Valve on #2 going bad and and my Turbo was running hot. Get the load off and head for the yard get to the yard and get off the interstate and she starts to hammer and I mean HAMMER sounded like someone had thrown a bunch of quarters in the freaking valve train and into the pistons. Shes smoking like no tomorrow. Get to the yard owner is waiting for me he goes back it in to the #1 bay and I will have the shop look at her Monday.

Get the report Monday while I am in Springfield IL with my mother at the hospital. #2 Had an intake vale hammered into it #1 was melted in spots to the wall of the sleeve. #2 head Cracked but the block and crank were fine. Boss goes your the last driver I am putting into it and I always wanted a BIG HP Cummins in the fleet who is doing the best job with parts for them at the time it was Bruce from Diesel Injection of Pittsburgh he called them up got the parts and redid her. I ended up in the hospital my self for Surgery needed an Appendectomy.

The farmer that bought her runs her for over 100K miles a Year and might run her at full power for 10% of the time. See just because you have the Balls does'nt mean you need to show them off. My foreman at Orbit found that out after the O/H of that truck when he made a Pretzel out of the Driveline for not listening to me when I said do not stand on the throttle in the low side of the trans. HE did and next thing he was doing was pulling the Drive shaft out.

I wish I knew you personally, I would love to learn from you! You're obviously a very intelligent man. Another thing to add to this is people who come into something new acting and thinking like they already know more than the people who have been doing it for years, it drives me crazy. I have all the respect in the world for the veteran drivers and absolutely love learning new things from them. And I *amn sure have no problem admitting I don't have anything on them in terms of skill, knowledge, or otherwise...

Yes, but temperature needed to ignite diesel fuel is made by compression ratio and boost. You don't want the piston to dwell at TDC because it can not do any work in that position, it's just trying to blow your heads off and crack the piston and bend the conrods and crank.

    Yes, they were.

Because longer stroke gives less dwell time.

US engines have higher injection pressures because your emissions regulations are tighter, higher injection pressures reduce smoke output.

Correct, almost. You don't need the pressure for the needle but to atomize the fuel well enough to mix it properly with air. If your injector body is large enough I can let some company fabricate you bigger plungers. It wont be cheap though. Cheaper option for you would be to let some cam grinder to grind you a special injector cam that has more agressive profile, that will also raise the injection pressure

It's hard to find a good tuner here also but they do exist. At least everyone of them can make a smokeless and well behaving engine. Are you still chattering, surging and popping around with your Cat? It's all in the programming, believe it or not.

Just wait, we are coming, they already do some farm tractors and industrial engines. I believe PDI is using european softwares and hardware to read and edit the ECMs, so we kind of are there too.
