I saw a local ad in my town for OTR positions with UPS. I do not think I've ever seen a UPS sleeper truck. Does anyone know anything about this position. Says you will be out 1-3 weeks at the time and travel 48 states. Does the OTR division with UPS even have sleeper trucks or do they put there drivers up in hotels. Just curious. Sounds like a good position.

OTR side is non union, have POS trucks, pay by the mile (note all that great from what i've heard), and they run allot of teams. And they RUN you, as in you'll need lots of white out for changeing that log around.
A W/S driver i know went to work for them lasted 4 weeks before he left, ran team in a midroof volvo.
American Truckeralready gone Thanks this. -
It may be a seasonal posting. UPS runs alot of ads this time of year.

May be UPS freight , formerly Overnite . Overnite sold out to UPS to keep drivers from unionizing .

That's what I would think too, I did some UPS loads with a carrier I ran for and saw several Volvo mids in the different yards with UPS drivers running team... small truck for 2!
I didn't think they stayed out that long though, I thought it was a 2-3 way round then home time. It could also be an O/O leased on to them, there's a guy here outside of Tampa that looks for a 2nd seat in his truck every so often running dedicated UPS load board, he's stays out 3 weeks according to his ad.
Happy hunting!! -
With the exception of two, every terminal in the UPS Freight(Overnite) system is union now! Now, I do not know about the truck load division, a completely different division and this division does not go into any of the UPS Freight terminals or the UPS (parcel) hubs. This division operates like most truck load carriers.
Most likely the ads that you are seeing is for the truck load division. And btw, on the UPS package side, they do run sleeper teams from certain locations. -
ups doe's run some team's but they are few & far between. I met up with one on the ny thruway a couple of year's ago. they were running out of conneticut to chicago. upsf truckload is not union, friend of mine work's for them & has'nt had a raise in 6 year's. came out of overnite ltl to truckload several year's ago. needless to say he's looking to bail. seemed like a good idea @ the time.

I see UPS sleeper trucks all the time on I-40 as well as UPS flatbeds, especially near Stockton, Ca. When UPS bought out Overnight some years back, they got into freight etc. They also got Motor Cargo under their umbrella about the same time. Fed-Ex the same. Not just package delivery anymore. Fed-Ex got Watkins out of Fl. and another couple I think.

Well get ready to see A LOT more ups sleeper teams on the road, my building alone is adding 21 new sleeper teams within the next year
