You can make basically what you want to a certain extent. I always say I averaged about $1200 a El take home. If it was any lower my first year it wasn't by much. But then again I started with experience so can't help much with students. But if you apply yourself and work hard the possibilities can be endless. Remember work hard and the grass usually isn't greener on the other side. Stick with it you'll be fine. Blind dog I've always gotten a faster response from potential employers if I call them and bug them. It shows you're adement about the job and very serious.

Thanks for your help Polar Bear. This is a HUGE step changing carreers after 23+ years. I'm retired also from the Army Reserves,Infantry Drill sgt, I am very much a go getter and very detail oriented. I just want a company to work as hard to take care of me as I will work hard to take care of them. Seems fair to me?
Are you still with TMC? -

All vets please read start from page 3 -
I will say making 40+ your first full year can be done. I am saying this because I am over 40K right now for the year and this is my first full year here. I started in october 2010. I am on per diem pay and that 40K+ is before my per diem.
-
how exactly does there per diem work ? Do they hold money back one week then you get it back the next week?
-
Honestly I am one of those guys who really does not know how Per Diem works. I want to say it is a certain amount per day out on the road that is given to you tax free.
-
Im at 47k right now with 3 checks to go. 43.5k isnt per deim cause i ran a day cab and was home pretty much every night for 9 months.

Ok Miz, I read the post for vets. What about it? I'm a retired US Army Infantry, SFC.
I've been in the same career field for over 23 years, and I'm pretty much hating life right about now. I'm very unsure about TMC. But, then again, I'm unsure of ALL trucking companies, because I'm a rookie that doesnt know anything!!! I have to try and trust peoples threads on this site, and recruiters. All vets know about about recruiters.
Milskired, I see by your picture that you were a Cpl in the Marines. I spent 4 years in the Corps, before I jumped over to the Army. I want to trust you guys on this. I swear I do. My BIGGEST FEAR is that I will lose my ### on 1st year pay. I make $920 per week now. I am a Cat certified Master Technician. Going from 23 years , to a rookie driver.
I am more than willing to listen to anybody on this. Especially veterans!!! And guys, thank you for your service to our country, and to the sacrifices you've made.
Keep your powder dry. I eagerly await a reply!!!
