Independent training your open for any thing.... company training you've limited yourself to just that company that paid for you to go so your in a contract till its fulfilled or you'll have to pay em back.. it all depends on if ya have the money to pay it yourself if you do then I would go that way. Choice is yours good luck on the decision you make.

Better answer is if you can afford independent training than go for it. If not, your only option is to find a company that suites you and your needs..
I work for Central Ref. and they met that criteria for me. They may not for you..
My contract will be fulfilled in 3 days.. Time managed to fly by for me. -
Within the past few days there have been posts by drivers dissatisified with company training . One was terminated after training and owes $6,000 . The other was starved out with low miles and low pay

You're always better off to do independent training. The schools usually get you all your endorsements that makes you more saleable to companies.
No contracts. You can get up and leave if you need.
Company contracts make you liable for the entire amount if you leave early and usually their costs are higher than most independents.
If money is an issue, check out the community colleges around you, check with your unemployment office. There are grants that pay for you to go to local schools. -
I guess it would depend on your financial situation. I would look for a PTDI certified community college in your area, if you go to the PTDI.org site they will have listings of schools in your area, both private and public schools. Often the best value is a certified community college, some are less the $1000 and are 8-10 weeks long. After you graduate, your real training will begin OTR with a trainer in the real world. I think you need a good foundation, but picking a good company to finish that training is key to your success.

I think Schneider started training again that's how I got my start back in 2003. I had to stay for a year and my contract was fulfilled. May be something to looking into, it worked pretty well for me.
