Kevin here.
On track to begin a 12 weekend class A course at the College of Southern MD (PTDI accredited) in late January. I will then take time and read the posts here to decide who I want to go OTR with. I'll then be on annual leave from my job to burn up the 30 or so days I have saved up while I'm out with my new gig.
I'm currently a rural letter carrier for the USPS, 19 years on the job, and I'm burned out. Due to declining volumes I've seen my pay drop by $5K/yr over the past 2 years. Physically, every night I feel like I've been drawn and quartered by the time I get home. I'll never make it to full retirement age in 22 years.
My brother is an O/O with Navajo, and making a ###### fine living at it. So much that his wife quit her job and now rides along with him and handles his logs.
I'm single, no kids, no pets. I have a paid for mobile home that I'm going to rent out to my cousin to pay the lot rent. I have no car note, just the insurance.
I thought about going to school though Schneider about 15 years ago, when I was just a part-timer at my job. I probably should have taken it then, I guess. This is definitely something I want to do now.
