Come on now!! This phenomena has got to be a 'newbie version' of a future Supertrucker! I saw one the other day, had his head up his a-$-$, yaking on the CB while in line at Safeway Tempe, AZ supposedly moving ahead in the usual 2-lines of appmt traffic! Saw him at the window and understood why he had those supertrucker gloves on---to help pull his head out of his ***!

As we all know these days, driving a newer Volvo (as 'he' was) with a smaller power-steering wheel is really hard work! Need those gloves to manhandle that 'car-like' steering wheel!

The most classic attempt at a 'newbie supertrucker' was observed by me during CDL school years ago. This 40 YO former realtor (kept saying how he made 6 figures but wanted to drive a truck!) showed up every day for school with the classic Merle Haggard outlaw outfit on---you know: Wrangler jeans, cowboy boots, western shirt with snap buttons, vest, big belt buckle, Hank Williams Jr. dark glasses, and black cowboy hat!! What a 'legend in his own mind!' ha ha

Plz, you 'newbie supertruckers' out there, keep doing---we 'other' drivrs out there need a laugh now & then!!:biggrin_2559::biggrin_2559:

I liked my fingerless gloves. They made my palms tender and supple...

Most super-truckers I see also have a "suicide knob" on their steering wheel. In my opinion, the name of that devise speaks for itself. Since I see so many of them it leads me to believe that my opinion is in the minority. To each their own I guess.

..my understanding has always been that 'suicide knobs' (as you call them, heard other names too!) are illegal!!:biggrin_2551:

My understanding is they are illegal as well. I think they are only legal if you have a hadicap that neccesitates one.

Let me revise that to say a physical handicap, not a mental one!:biggrin_25525:

Oh really? Would the intent there be to negate the need for the services of lot lizards?
