I'll definitely agree with that. From everything I know and have seen Wal*Mart and UPS Parcel seemed to be about the most respected drivers on the road by other drivers.

It has nothing to do with backing doubles but I'll put our best at Con-way against anyone in a friendly competition..lol.. For whatever reason, maybe the snow or something, our line-haul drivers from Erie, Pa can all hit the dock with a kite. The one that runs Milton, Pa can put his back box up without pulling up. I've seen him do it 3 or 4 times and it's really something to see. I can hit a parking space on a good day with a few pull-ups but this guy is unreal.

What is it about Wal-Mart and UPS Parcel that other drivers respect so much?

By the way, UPS Freight 7, UPS Parcel 3.

I don't work at either one but I'll take a stab at it.. I know drivers at both and we shoot the breeze so this should be fairly accurate.

Both pay extremely well - UPS Feeder drivers and Wal*Mart drivers are clearly experienced to get where they are minus seasonal UPS drivers.

Senior Wal*Mart drivers make about the same as I can as a somewhat senior Con-way Freight line-haul driver - 70-110K depending on the DS or terminal and the runs. I did $82,500 in 2009 and $87,500 in 2010 at Freight running night line-haul. The big difference is they are treated very well by the corporation from top to bottom whereas we really aren't.

I guess the best way to explain it is at Con-way we're viewed as a hindrance to the bottom line - at Wal*Mart you're viewed as a help to the bottom line. There's a lot more to it than that but that's all I can say. It isn't all roses there either.

UPS is UPS. Senior Parcel drivels make way more than I will but it takes a really long time to get there. The one I know very well runs about 500 miles per night in the Northeast/Mid-Atlantic and makes well over 100K yearly.

Just generally speaking those are known as the two best jobs - I would personally rank UPS Freight ahead of Wal*Mart but that's just me..

    My ranking is this..

    1.UPS Parcel
    2.UPS Freight
    3.Wal*Mart
    4/5 Con-way & FedEx Freight
    6/7 ABF & Old Dominion
