Make Recap Tires Illegal

    As far as tires are concerned, two things I would say are of paramount importance. First, check them closely and regularly. Second, don't run over curbs all the time. Granted, there are times when it may be unavoidable, but at least do it GENTLY!!

    I know drivers that swear by recaps. I don't think that's a good idea to ban 'em. MHO.

    Be glad the trainer has that much. Swift, Schneider, and others of the training wheel companies you only need 6 months of driving since you left the trainer before they allow you to train.

    Its no wonder that Swift piles it up 1100 times a month.

    Been reading these posts and all have valid points. But there is a reason only virgin rubber is allowed on steer axles. Safety.
    Mismatched tires, will lead to excessive heat buildup of the smaller tire, since it is being dragged an inch or two on every revolution. Add it up. Thats like dragging your tire about 500 inches, or 41 feet, for each mile you drive. Plus now the bigger tire is handling more than its fair share of the load, maybe double. More heat. Gators coming soon.
    Mismatched inflation of MATCHING tires. Same scenario. A tire at 75 pounds will measure an inch or more LESS incircumference than its 100 pound partner. Still dragging the underinflated tire and as above, this will give birth to gators.
    I have never seen a drive tire explode because it is so easy to check the pressure. Underinflation is readily apparent also as it sits alone at the front corner. Trailer tires, duals can mask differing pressures. You cannot just look at them and think they are matching in inflation pressures.

    That politician has a bug up his butt. He will not stop with a defeat. He sees the tread act and wants to bring the same attention and regulations to truckers. I watch the automotive sector and let me tell you, it is all effed up. Nobody knows what they are doing, 20 different monitors out there and none of them WORK!
