I have no doubt that some do better than I do. But the financials posted by Landstar on the internet are quite telling overall. I was comparing my stuff to the AVERAGE of what BCO revenue was in 2010. I never said I was doing better than everyone. For every one of you that is doing extremely well at Landstar, how many are just holding on? I would be willing to bet from the Average revenue posted by Landstar, it is a wide spread and there are quite a few that are dying compared to those that are living large.

Sure, FCC has a per mile rate that fluctuates by length of haul. But most of my runs are shorter, so I get the top end of that. And they reimburse for my base plates and do not charge anything but $10 a week. I know how to keep my costs under control. I might not be doing as well as some, but my NET last year was bumped up against $70K. Maybe not stellar for someone from California, but for Iowa, that is dang near royalty. And like I said, that is being home every weekend and holiday and by the house a couple of times a week. And, except for the mortgage on the house (40 acres of land is paid for), I am debt free.

Don't you get it!? You're comparing your average to LS fleet avg! I wonder what FCC's fleet average is? Base plate cost for an O/O running 125000 miles a year is less than .02 per mile, throw in all the other fees it still doesn't come close to a free trailer at FCC. I only run midwest and mid south, the rates I showed reflect those regions.
