Bill is 100% correct, however if you were to get in an accident, both of you will be FUBAR as you had knowledge that you weren't insured to drive that vehicle.
-
Thanks bill. Ok well what would happen if I get an experienced driver to drive for me and i lease my truck to a company but I don't put my name as the second driver but while he is on lease he is also trainning me, what are the consequences for those actions. A) if i get pulled over... B) the company response or would they find out if the ticket or roadside inspection is in my name.
-
YOur company and insurance is one thing but you can't drive if your truck is leased to another company and they don't have you qualified as a driver. And when you say "training" are we talking about to get CDL or you have it and want more road time?
-
You wouldn't be able to count the training as it would have to be logged through the carrier. And almost any carrier would immediately terminate your lease as the high risk to the carrier of non insured. Also risk your insurance not paying in an accident if you had an accident (even if not your fault) as your not a legal driver in not being listed on both log books.
Real bad ideal especially since there is carriers that will let you train with another driver and why not train in a company truck then lease your truck on.
I hope I worded that correctly, considering I get caught up in my own thoughts.san45bar Thanks this. -
I have my permit now but I will be going to get my license soon so it will probaly be road time but from what i see that wouldn't be an option.

FUBAR? How so? I guess maybe if there was a fatality.
I got hit earlier this year. Guess what? Since it was on private property the cops wouldn't even come out. Scumbag leased O/O didnt even have insurance. My insurance company had to go after the company he leased to. Dot didnt give two craps, sheriff wouldn't come out, and the highway patrol said there was nothing they could do.
If I had to do it again, I would have strangled him with the towel on his head. Then the cops would have come...
Maybe -
I see what you are saying, but i don't understand why small companies don't hire new drivers but all the big companies will. I know its an insurance thing, so what they are saying is go work for cheap for the big companies and once you get enough exp come back and work for me..
-
Seen that to many times, with that we can't do anything because of private property. Maybe i should go on private property to do my dirty work..lol
