So he used an electronic device for his routing without double checking limits?

Expensive lesson to learn, but NO electronics are fool proof. Neither are atlases for that matter. While they help(GPS+Atlas) , I'd expect paying close attention to road signs is the foolproof way to go?

That's crazy! I could see if he was blatantly crossing inadequate bridges for his vehicle class or something... but a wrong turn? I would hope the judge corrects that post haste.

To bankrupt a guy over that should be criminal.

well if he was making a local delivery and had the bill of ladings to prove it, he should be able to get it dismissed. If he was trying to go thru and not be local, it's legit. It is ALWAYS worth a phone call to a shipper/receiver just for this kind of info!

He stated in the video that he was making a local delivery, and that another "local delivery" truck was allowed down the road without question. I can also understand getting a ticket for going down the wrong road, but a $31000.00 ticket for that is absolutely highway robbery (no pun intended.)

had a local water guy here that was delivering water for a swimming pool and 2 of his trucks got tickets for $40,000 each but he put it on the drivers because he told them how to go and they decided to go a shorter route which was over a light bridge and a neighbor called dot and they were waiting for them

Yeah, I can see the seriousness of overweight on bridges. But it sounds like this driver is caught up in semantics. --Local delivery or not?

IMO that shouldn't be a $31,000 question. But as usual... There are two sides to the story and we are only hearing one.

i agree with you 100% but here in pa they have authorized local pd's by sending officers to school for training they can do truck enforcement with them gaining a piece of the pie ($)......you can see where that's going
