Ice storm, Tulsa/OKC three years ago. It's about 34 up around Tulsa, hit a line of heavy thunderstorms (in late December!) that are just dumping rain, moving east. Cold front behind it.

So I get through OKC, heading west on I40 - there's water everywhere, and here comes the cold air. I drop down to 30-ish mph as the temps drop through freezing. About 15 minutes later (28 now) here come a couple of supertruckers... doing 70-ish, giving me sh%t on the CB about going so slow, whaddya scared? Not exactly wild about things buddy!

10 miles later I hit the back end of a short, non-moving traffic backup.

Supertrucker #1 is overturned AND jacknifed in the median.

Supertrucker #2 is rolled on his side across the interstate.

 

The ice storms in OK are not things to mess around with. If you have to come thru here during or after one, please, keep the speeds down. Part of the issue is that OK doesn't have the equipment to deal with it. The other part is that Oklahoman's are stupid in this weather. (I'm not an Oklahoman, I just live here.)

 

well i am an okie, and i slow way down. i know better.

 

Yeh my Friend that lives in Grove Has that problem. I keep telling him to get chains for his 2 wheeled truck.

Its to bad he is leaving Prime, both he and Prime have so much invested at this point.
