I was going crosseyed reading that.
Try paragraphs.
First, CA can care less about future licenses. I can't see anyone threatening you with going after you. All they care about is your past. States are tied in anyways on the computer. TN would care about CA, but CA don't give a hoot about TN in your situation. You should have a letter of clearance from CA if you paid it.
I know first hand as I live in TN and when I got my CDL, I found out my license was suspended in all 4 states I lived in because of a speeding ticket when I was 16. I wasn't even driving. I just took the rap and the guy said he would pay the ticket and never did. This was 18 years later.
It didn't stop me from driving. I just had to clear the mess up.
Try a different company. Get copies of your MVR. -
Ok I read the WHOLE THING!
My eyes really hurt now. LOL
You knew you had a ticket.
You knew you didn't pay it.
You knew there would be a suspension on your record. But was not sure how it would show?
You wasted your own time and there's.
You got your dick slapped in the dirt.
End of story.
Sorry. But That's how I see it.
You were irresponsible on taking care of your ticket. Now you paid the price.
End of your cdl....for now.
Good news:
You can get your drive on.
Go to a small company....REAL small. Dump truck, farm truck, water truck or the like.
You can get your cdl. You can be a truck driver. You situation is not the end of the world for your cdl. Very common in this industry. You'll be fine. This is just a small hurdle. If you really wanna be a trucker you will hammer down and find a way to solve your problem. Next thing you know, you will be trucking.
Good luck.
And before I forget, PAY YOUR TICKET NEXT TIME.
That 200 ticket cost you a lot of headache.
BTW more good news: They did you a favor by not hiring you LOL That place has all kinds of satisfied drivers.....insrest sarcasm NOW !
Good luck!sweetdaddy915 Thanks this. -
These rules apply to all companies operating interstate commerce. The Dot Regs are the minimum requirements and an owner operator is also required to follow the same rules as a mega fleet. The problem is the suspension. While you were able to obtain a License from the state of Tennessee, you still had a License in California (suspension) that was on hold for an unpaid ticket( what was the ticket for?). Before you are able to apply for a job you must surrender one of your licenses. By not paying the ticket on time your License became suspended. Only after you went to the DMV did you realize you must have to pay a penalty(fine) before reinstatement. You then should present a copy of the letter of reinstatement to the company before they can legally hire you. Having the License doesn't remove the fact that it was suspended for the duration you drove under an out-of-state License. The failure or blame as you claim is not the Recruiters burden. The Burden of proof defaults to the Applicant to provide accurate information upon submitting his/her Employee Application. Now you must retain a copy of your Ca and TN DMV along with documents of reinstatement and receipts for fines and tickets paid by you. Being ignorant on your part just cost you a job. Now you know what the system needs and what you need to do is stay informed relating to the most valuable asset, A Clean MVR report and Operators License from only one state.

And on top of everything else, you are living in CA and driving on a TN license??
zentrucking Thanks this. -
I'm now living in CA and have switched my license accordingly. Because all of this informing me I didn't pay a ticket happened in August, I payed it in August. I was under the impression that bottom line is the state wants their money, once they get it, all should be well. During this time period, where i supposedly had this failure to appear I was Hired at T-Mobile. T-Mobile did the most thorough background check I had ever been subject to. Had to know to the day when I started or ended a job, to the day every address I lived at and a complete 50 state background check.
I've also done some work on some military installations, and you can bet your bottom dollar they put you through the ringer with a DOJ background check, guys I worked with that had even minor issues were arrested on the spot, MP's and Fed's don't mess around with that kind of stuff.
So that's why I didn't know anything was wrong till I got a letter, and again, All was paid as soon as I was informed. Heck I had been pulled over, and gone through those checkpoints, oh they love those in the south where they stop you and check for warrants and license validity, and no issues. Anyways ill see if i can't get with an o/o get a bit more experience and then get my license, heck its good for 5 years, so in two ill be good to go. -
Hahaha dang I started to picture Arnold Schwartzenegger voice as I read the post and all the sudden it became great reading!Mardet Thanks this.

The suspension would not show up necessarily on an MVR. How? because the office of the Department of transportation can Flag your suspension so that only the DMV will reject a renewal until the reinstatement fee is paid. Once the ticket is paid that doesn't release the suspension. Only way to do that is to pay for the reinstatement. Once done then the Flag is removed. This means that the only ones who can see the suspension is the DOT and the Issuing office of the DMV. Why do they do this? Well if you move to a new address and you do no receive a letter from the Office of public safety, eventually the DMV will catch you when you go to renew your license. Here is another fact. The DOT can write a warning at a vehicle inspection one day and change the warning to a citation at the officers discretion later and mail you a ticket and fine that has to be paid before you can renew the license, and it will not show up on a MVR report. It will show up if you get pulled over that your driving under suspension, which is another ticket. In essence they can change the violation and mail you a notification. If the notice is returned for any reason(moved) they will have a return to sender and post date and time it was returned. Again, the only way to know if your License is free and clear is to go directly to the DMV and Request that information. Our company has fired a lot of drivers for having a Suspension that was not paid and even though the MVR was Clear, the driver was placed OOS (out of service by the DOT) and the company found out because the Driver was ticked and ordered not to roll. Another driver and I had to recover a load retrieve a truck and bring the OOS driver back to the company. The driver was told he had to get the suspension lifted immediately of else face termination. His fines were well over 1000 dollars back in Atlanta Ga. We were in Texarkana Ar. The next day he left and got on a bus to Cali to stay with a friend. He said he could not pay the ticket and was down to 40 dollars. I gave him a twenty to buy food and wished him luck when he left for the greyhound station...
Look, Things happen that we sometimes can not control. Don't let that stop you. Keep on keeping on till you find the answer.

You have a due date paying a ticket. You can run, but you can't hide. They will mark you in the system as such just as popmartian says. Once your home state gets wind, they will cancel or suspend your license, Then you have to pay reinstatement fees on top of the fine.
This is one reason the DOT requires a 10 year employment history. At one time you could get away with it. But not anymore in the computer age. -
