Weight limits and truck restrictions only matter if you get caught. So don't get caught, and you won't have any problems.:biggrin_25525:

excessive? maybe. But we can call this a dumba** tax. Dude did not PLAN HIS OWN TRIP. He relied on an electronic device. AND seemed to be shifting the blame to it rather than taking responsibilty for his own mistake., in both failure to preplan OR making the wrong turn.

    Trucker? 0-1 Year

Yeah, so every mistake we make gives the government the right to steal $30k from us? BS.

First off, the dude said he was on the road making a local delivery. How did you want him to get there, call in the team of helicopters to pick him up on the off ramp of the interstate and drop him at the consignee?

And second....EVERYBODY in every profession makes mistakes. Ive taken wrong tuns and been on roads I shouldnt have been on. It happens. Was I wrong in doing it? Yes. Does it entitle the government to $30k of my money/ HELL NO!

It is extortion, plain and simple.

I think if most of us were spanked with a THIRTY-ONE THOUSAND DOLLAR fine for being on the wrong street we would be reaching for excuses too.

I'm not giving the guy a pass, but with all the trip planning a driver can muster he will still end up on the wrong street many times in his career.

Go back to page one and see my posts. That road is no where near his deliver, so he was not making a "local delivery". How was he to get there? He could have used one of the MANY truck legal routes in that area that would have taken him there.

As for the fine, that's PA for you. I do not agree with it.

A dumba** tax? Nope. Excessive? Yes. We have had several drivers get nailed on 10 ton roads(they had no businees on the road) and each fine was under $1,000 dollars.

We had a truck get nailed at the VA scales for being 8,000 OVER GROSS(88,000LBS) and the fine was only around $1,000.

Some towns in PA go to far when it comes to trucks.

I dragged my feet and you guys took the wind out of my sails. Well played.

Here in PA a lot of people say the roads are bad and the cops are worse. There are only two "real" cities in PA w/ the rest of the state littered w/ small hick towns and thats why it's called Pennsyltucky.

Yep, IL weight rated all the roads to one steel company. There is only one way in. Cops could write tickets 24/7.

I am totally pissed at local cops acting as DOT. Pure money grab, just like the old days!
