You know what I never understand...Walmart has some of the most professional drivers on the road.
But in most of their stores that Ive ever been to, they hire the most ghetto idiots they can find. Kids stocking the shelves with their pants halfway to the ground with headphones in rapping out loud.jakebrake12, Boonie and ACH1130 Thank this. -

Im with chalupa..its all about the cash...I dont want to work this hard when Im 70 years old...trying to do all I can now so I dont have to do it later..I could be home daily with weekends off and work days but for me its about the money...I work a road bid on nights for the money...hopefully toward the end of my driving career I will request shortest runs per senoirity and piss around like a part timer but Im not ready to do that yet so give me all you got..dont get me wrong I love what I do but Im not going to do it for free when I dont have to..
Boonie Thanks this. -
Boonie I just typed about a million word essay on hooking a set of doubles. Thought you might be interested since you are wanting to work either LTL or UPS. Most LTL companies do pull doubles. The only big ones I can think of that dont are Dayton Freight and USF Holland.

Technically Roadrunner Transportation is an LTL carrier too. 100% owner op though, and they pull 53fts
Boonie Thanks this. -
I'm pretty sure that's the reason for the discrepancy between drivers and store.Boonie Thanks this. -
No way. I used to work across the street from one of their huge East Coast DC's and seniority there was like seniority at UPS Parcel in Pa or NJ but they made a lot less.
I had about 6 years with Con-way then and they made less than I did for the year while working every single holiday and 90% of weekends with 10 years in and they spent nights away from home.
It's a great job but I don't think I could spend a holiday at work ever again let alone all of them..Boonie Thanks this. -
Back in '95, I worked for a Lowe's DC in the warehouse.

They offered me a job few weeks ago. Had to turn it down. Couldn't make the 5-2 schedule they offered me work being 390 miles away.
They told me they don't work pet Christmas or Thanksgiving.
Conservative to the Bone.
