Yeppers. That was 15 years ago or so.

Okay, People. Why do most of ya'll want to work for Freight if Parcel is so great? I don't get it.

They probably still arent taking into account the fact that you said "If you could be hired full time immediately" at both of them.
If that was the case, I dont see why anybody would pick Freight over Parcel.Boonie Thanks this. -
While I was working at Lowe's, I never saw a driver. Never thought about driving a semi at the time either. Do they even employ drivers? Don't remember ever seeing a Lowe's truck. We loaded trailers among other things, but I don't remember seeing them from the outside; it was always from the inside. I also drove several types of lifts as driving a lift was my main job for ten hours a night.

Im not sure. We dont go that far in our city operation in Indy. Its either Louisville or Cincinatti terminal that covers that area. But I went down there years ago for Estes while UPS was slow. Looks like a pretty nice place to work down there.

It was the most fun job I ever had while at the same time being the hardest I ever worked.

Tally so far is Freight 10, Parcel: 7.
I'm suspecting that working for Freight has possibly more general job satisfaction? If so, why?
As a health-conscious person, which one would keep the driver most physically active? Or, in other non-politically-correct words, which drivers are generally thinner (or fatter, lol).
Which division is more boring (or exciting)?
Which division has the driver in the least amount of isolation and has the most customer/coworker interaction?Last edited: Dec 10, 2011

Overall you will stay in better shape working for UPS Parcel because of all the time you will have to spend loading, unloading, and then driving the package cars for years before you can drive the feeders full time. Once you go into feeders, Ive read about the "feeder fourty" (40 lbs you gain from sitting on your ### driving all day).
UPS Freight city drivers get some exercise...Road drivers tend to be much more overweight...
As far as customer interaction goes...Im not sure if all of the feeder drivers go to customers, or if some of them just run from one hub to the next. UPS Freight road drivers never go to customers, they only run from one UPS Freight terminal to another....City drivers have to deal with customers all day.Boonie Thanks this. -
Feeder 40...ugh, that doesn't sound so good!
