I have a detroit 14L 515HP, turbo is having this loud whistling noise and turbo PSI is higher than normal when I step on it.. I loose little power, no signs of smoke but check engine comes on. I had this problem before but after a big hiccup, it was back to normal, now it seems to be permanent. Changed the egr valve/turbo almost 2 years ago. Might the turbo actuator be left open, and get stuck? or EGR valve stuck open as well? Any input will help, Thanks.

What flash code are you getting?
-
I have codes, 46.77.72.63.44.34.21.49.39.51.31. Too many codes, might be an electrical problem?
-
Any time you get over three codes and your maintenance levels are good, then the first thing you do is clean, and protect, every battery connection and ground cable. Remove and clean the grounds at the starter, the ones to the block, and from the frame to the cab. Check and clean the power, and ground fused wires to the ECM.
I like to add a cable to the right front corner of the engine to the frame.
Then do voltage drop tests to confirm cables are not damaged.
Then clear the codes, and see what you have!
Just a thought!mrbmg Thanks this.
