that's exactly the point i was trying to make before the whole thing went so horribly wrong. it's when you leave it up to the gps to "spit out" a rout for you that you get into trouble...sometimes. I'm "suggesting", that you take the time to plan the rout in the gps the same way you do with maps and pads. but instead of it taking 15-20min it only takes about 5min. your doing essentially the same thing as conventional planning it's just faster and safer then letting the gps make all the decisions.
plastic or paper... THE BIG MAP.

Still a good idea to know how to plan that route with the maps and the paper.

I don't own a GPS and never will, but that's just me. I have no problem finding where I need to go. That being said, with some of the directions that seem to be given these days . . .

That being said, I do on occasion use mapquest or google maps to see where I am headed and get a feel for the area. That's the closest to a GPS that I will get! -
i hear ya ... this whole thing just went way south. i never intended to offend anyone or enter into a debate over weather or not you should use a gps. it was meant for those who may be interested in using one or needed a little help with it. and possibly offer a more versatile way of using them. without map reading skills a gps is useless and possibly dangerous.
