And what is the solution they are "working feverishly" to apply? English language tapes...? Not going to happen folks... The US gov't constantly underestimates the magnatude of the problems it creates and the amount of "solution" that needs to be applied.
Well said bro..

You forgot to mention they are all high on coke and drunk on tequila.
Nothing like fear mongering and stereotyping to make a point. -
Now that's an inflammatory and silly comment..
No fear mongering or stereotyping about it... Until Mexican nationals quit breeching our borders VOLUNTARILY, thumbing their noses at our immigration laws, and both "undocumented workers" and naturalized Mexicans in the US stop trying to justify "illegal immigration" as a "right" (Mexicans Without Borders and La Raza come to mind) I have no faith that Mexican truckers will act any better. -
So the 500+ trucks in this pilot program are going to take over the whole U.S. transportation industry?
No one is placing any blame on the companies that will hire these folks?
No one mentions that the cost of moving freight will be cheaper since no transfer will have to occur.
No one mentions that they will have to follow the same rules as every other truck on the road.
No one mentions that the rate at which Mexican trucks are found to be unsafe is not all that different from U.S. domiciled trucks.
No one mentions that the Mexican carriers will only be bringing freight into or back to Mexico, not between U.S. cities.
No, they want to continue racist stereotypes.
Uninformed people deserve what they get. -
No... as I'm sure you're an "informed" person, and certainly your other points have some validity, it is as you say, a "pilot program". But what happens when it's adopted and EXPANDED?
Ask yourself this: "Why is it necessary to allow Mexican trucks to travel to their shippers/consignees within the US? The Fed say it will save the American consumer "millions of dollars a year". Ok... so what about the American Truck Driver? Now that we don't have to haul to Ports of Entry along the Mexian border, what happens to our wages? I guess that saving the American Consumer, which also includes truck drivers, millions a years outweighs the negatives BUT THIS PLAN ALSO HELPS BOLSTER THE MEXICAN ECONOMY. That's what NAFTA is about...
When the plan is adopted in full, the Mexican trucking industry (and economy indirectly) gets a "shot in the arm" while the American trucking industry takes an equal "kick in the pants". Now we don't need the cartage companies at the Ports of Entry, no company, no jobs... Ripples from this program will be felt throughout the industry.
Dude, we're not helping American jobs here. We're putting Americans out of work... -
If they do it right, the big boys of U.S. trucking could take over freight into and out Mexico.
Swift 17000+ trucks
Jb Hunt 10000+ trucks
Schneider 10000+ trucks
How big is the largest Mexican carrier? 500 trucks maybe. -
Just a question; Have you ever been to Mexico? I mean the kind of places that a trucker is likely to go? You know, right across the border?
I have. And personally, I don't see the ability to go into Mexico as reciprocal. The cities are filthy and the truck facilities are at best, third rate IMHO. I don't get out of my truck more than I have to, I plan my fuel purchases for the American side and I certainly DON'T EAT or DRINK there. The roads absolutely suck, are narrow and poorly kept. I'd hate to have anything breakdown there...
Crime is much more prevalent and the cops are just as bad as the regular bad guys. Want to get to your destination? Better be prepared to "grease some palms" when you get stopped...
I'm not stereotyping. I have also been to places much further into Mexico, away from the border (and not as a truck driver) that are beautiful and where the people are very kind and friendly.
I doubt that truckers will see these places as a matter of routine. -
Mexico Toll Roads
Home > Mexico Information > Mexico Toll Roads
The toll roads in Mexico offer the fastest and safest way to travel in Mexico. Mexico has an extensive system of toll roads that are built and funded by Federal taxes and are built to nearly identical standards as the US Interstate Highways System. When traveling on the Toll Roads in Mexico you will need to pay a fee. These fees go to maintaining road conditions, emergency services etc. The Toll charges are based on how many axles you motor vehicle has. Most cars and motorcycles Tolls charges are usually under $3 per Toll. The tolls can be paid in U.S. currency as well as Mexican currency, however note that if you pay in pesos the will not give you American Currency as change. To find the toll roads in Mexico you should watch for the sign that says "COUTA" this word informs you that you will be paying a fee to drive on this road. If you are not on the Toll Roads you will be on the free roads or "Via LIBRE"

What you read, and what the reality is are two different things. You'll only know the truth of it after you've been there...
And as I've said before your "fees" will certainly include "additional gratuities"...
