120V plug in on drivers side I'm assuming is a block heater or other type of heater. How do you know what type of heater and how can someone tell if it's working. Thanks.

You might be able to hear it hissing as it warms the water in the block and after it has been plugged in for a couple of hours you can feel the block and it will be warmer the the outside temp

where is it plugged into? the block? if it is in the block, it should be a block heater. there are oil pan heaters too, but those as far as I know are aftermarket. block heaters heat the coolant. when I first noticed mine, years ago, I had some one plug it in while I kept my hand on the end going into the block, as soon as I felt it get just a lil warm, I knew it worked. I think you may also check by hooking a continuity tester to each of the 110 plug prongs & it should light up, showing a continued circuit. or you could plug it in & see if your truck starts a whole lot easier, than when not plugged in.

The line feeds over the trans then I can't trace it any further. Whatever type it is I'd say it's working. When I started the truck the other day the water temp was sitting around 100.

    Thanks for the info.
