Don't have a blue tooth and never will. Phone rings while I'm moving, leave a message and I'll call ya back when I get around to it.

I cant speak for other Companies but I work for a Specialized Flatbed/ Heavy Haul carrier so we are required to Have a CB so we can comunicate with Pilot Cars.
Also the CB is Hardly a distraction, it is a tool. A tool that can save your butt!
American TruckerOLDSKOOLERnWV and rocknsand Thank this. -
My wife says a cell phone is also a tool. Lol. To keep track of me...
Wiseguywireless and OLDSKOOLERnWV Thank this. -
With a hands-free cell phone you could be on a conference call with the pilot cars and no one needs to key a mic. Both hands on the wheel, and constant contact.
Yeah, you could be in a "dead spot" and loose that option. But you could also have some jack ball swinging a thousand watts and bleeding all over half the CB band too.
Both communications devices are tools. But one is politically correct, the other is not.
I support the use of both tools. I was making a point. Plenty of accidents have been caused by drivers using the CB. There is no "record" of use during an accident so any "feel good" legislation simply doesn't have the same bang for the buck as cell phone laws do.volvodriver01 and Wiseguywireless Thank this. -
That's why they installed a volume knob....
One needs to be dialed and the other does not.
One sends and recieves text messages and the other does not.
I have seen hundreds of driver weaving all over the road while fooling with their cell phones....I have never seen anyone weaving around while talking on the radio.
There have been plenty of accidents that happened while the driver had both hands on the wheel as well...Maybe we ought to outlaw steeringwheels.
Sorry man but "that dog don't hunt!" the reason we have cell phone laws is because idiots in trucks and cars can't seem to use them without weaving all over the place.
Many of us are capable of operating a phone while driving but sadly many more of us don't seem to be.07-379Pete and volvodriver01 Thank this. -
Its bogus. If I wanna look at nekkid bewbs on my phone while I'm driving and talking on the CB I should be able to. I'm a supertrucker!

I drive from WV to Mobile, Al every week, and I can't even start to tell how many vehicles..big and small that I see with a phone in there hands dialing or texting every week, it's really a shame that some folks can't stay focused on the job at hand.

I'm not against using a phone hands-free.
I push the button once on my headset. The phone says "Please say a command". I say "Call So-n-So" or "Call 555 1212" Then I either press the button again to hang up, or simply wait for the other person to end the call. It's less distracting then reaching for the mic.
Reckless driving, Careless driving, Distracted driving, Failure to maintain lane control... There are plenty of ways for LEOs to spank the offenders without having to rely on feel-good legislation that punishes all, or makes otherwise law abiding citizens into law-breakers.Wiseguywireless Thanks this. -
I use that voice dialing too and I found that my Blackberry is more accurate and reading my voice than my HTC Android phone was. Which is good since the blacberry isn't a touch screen making dialing more involved.

Interesting. I would have thought google was king of voice recognition. I guess goog411 and google voice speech to text didn't teach them all that much. Maybe they should buy out RIM. LoL.
I seem to have real good results when I say the actual number to dial. Sometimes when I say a contact's name she wants me to clarify by reading off a few of the most likely contacts I may have meant.
I figured it was because I have so many similar contacts. --365 and growing. I know I can get rid of dozens of those if not more. Most calls I make end up in my contacts and many of them are never needed again.
