Since everyone USX invites to an orientation is required to already have a current CDL, that implies they all have to also have a current Medical Certificate. Regardless of this it seems to be standard practice for most of the larger companies to insist on a new physical for all new hires.
During orientation the office staff has each new hire sign several forms using a digital signiture pad. They may or may not turn their computer monitor around so that the new hire can actually see what he/she is signing. One of those forms specifies that if the new hire fails to remain employed by USX for at least 90 days, that the company is entitled to recoup $100 for the cost of the physical, as well as some other charges too. Both times that I went to a USX orientation, I never received copies of the paperwork I signed digitally. However, when I called Chattanooga to inquire about obtaining copies, I was fortunate to connect with a helpful lady who mailed copies to my home.
I suspect that USX will furnish to the NV Labor Relations Board your signed copy wherein you agreed to pay for the physical if employment lasted less than 90 days. If that's the case, it could prove to be a difficult thing to work around. -
This. Pure evil. That is exactly the way it happened with me, today. Normally I wouldn't have gone for it but have dealt with a lot of BS from trucking companies lately.
Hopefully, at some point, there will be a nice fine or lawsuit to help them discover a conscience. I can understand drug dealers carrying out such a shameless practice but it's unfathomable this is brazenly being done by a major US corporation. I also found out today that here I am in orientation and they're still checking me out and haven't necessarily decided to hire me. Sometimes things seem so sleezy out here now I could just give it up without regrets. -
The thing is, they will dig and dig some more and ask you for some of the stupidest things. They wont even start checking on anyone until you have quit your present job and show up for orientation too.

ANYTHING you sign, at a trucking company,
you should get a copy of.
If not,
shame on YOU !!! -
In the information they give you before you leave for orientation it states you will not be hired until after the 3 day orientation. This is for your protection and there's. If you don't pass the phisical or something they don't have to fire you just send you home. Like wise if you disagree with something said in orientation you can walkout without having the job on your record.

UsX ,could be a good company if they knew how to run there company and gave the few trainers more training . And when u complain they take u off the truck and u wait for a trainer for 12 days no pay, then u get a another trainer worse than the last one And guess wht u still don't learn to back and they tell u to go back to school

Got my money back plus extra, unlike lawyers the NV Labor board doesn't make you give them a cut. All told I got $328 from USX
NV has been very demanding with employers since the unemployment rate is so ###### high there -
Good for you on the outcome and glad to see you posted back with how it turned out too.
