Why would a drop and hook not be a post trip on the trailer dropped and pretrip on the new trailer ??? That's how we enter trailers on the e-logs .
15 min log for drop and hook?

I have the habit of doing anything that needs to get done that even can take an hour but I still log it as 15. The day I log when and how long I am whistling Dixie is the day I get paid to, or fined if I don't.

You must still be a student or you have the most incompetent safety department in the industry .

Hmmmm....
That is calls a false log around here.
Bucktrucker Thanks this. -
Get use to doing things and not getting paid for it ..... Thats trucking.. Don't get into a habbit of false logging we are not in the 80s anymore and you just learning this is a bad way to start. LOG it like you do it .. Some companies will fire you for a false log and being that your on qaulcom im sure they know what your doing lol. Good luck with your career.

Absolutely. I log whatever time spent at the D & H place. Shippers have held me up for 45 minutes before. I'm not going to lose precious driving time by only flagging the D & H.

I believe that you will find that an inspection prior to operation of a CMV is required. Although a post trip inspection is an important step that should be followed, the rules require that you complete a" written inspection report" based on your observations while operating the CMV and information provided by other parties. An additional inspection in not part of the requirements.Last edited: Dec 12, 2011

Log it as it's done, if it's 12 minutes then e-logs will log it as 12 minutes. You can never go wrong by logging it as it's done. And that way you cover your butt. Good Luck and Merry Christmas.

Yes
392.7 requires that "No commercial motor vehicle shall be driven unless the driver is satisfied that the following parts and accessories are in good working order:
Service brakes, including trailer brake connections.
Parking (hand) brake.
Steering mechanism.
Lighting devices and reflectors.
Tires.
Horn.
Windshield wiper or wipers.
Rear-vision mirror or mirrors.
Coupling devices.
How are you going to satisfy yourself these things are in working order unless you do a Pre-trip?
On-duty time still applies. -
My 1st sentence stated that an inspection was required before operation. Isn't that what a pre trip is?
