    Good afternoon,

I have seen alot of containers going around here with in the past two months or so, A local van fleet next door has started to do more and more intermodal, just last month he had one container a night and now he moves like six... I would like to know who do I need to talk to, or get in touch with to get a account like that one of his drivers came in today and asked me if we do intermodal beacause he was tired of pulling van for him but he doesnt have more work for now. The containers say "CHINA" or they say "NAFF". I see alot of old truck on the road but this guy put all 2008 and up trucks on them. I would like to start a opporation like that.

Down in my area most container work does not pay that well. You'd probably have to go directly to the steamship lines or maybe a direct shipper / receiver to make any money at it. I believe most of this work pays round trip rate (not a great rate) so if you can find something to haul back that will fit on a container and get the container turned back in before the demurrage starts you might be able to do ok. I looked in to this briefly but my expertise was not in this type of hauling so I am still pulling a reefer.

Here in Chicago, intermodal work is pretty lucrative. Tho we do not have ports and everything is moved by train, I know of 3 guys who have contracts with CN and are making good money going out and back everyday. Not sure what you would have to do as a company, but Schneider National is a big player in this business now and I bet try could set you up with plenty of work, especially there in NJ. They even have their own ships!!!
