I wish I had read it first. WIA paid $1500 of the CDL school leaving me with a $6000 loan at 18%. Even though I have no job at all, I've been charging the payment to protect my credit score. I have went to 3 OTR companies and 1 local. I failed at all of them. I've been out of a truck since 7/28, so if I want to get back in, I need a refresher ($1000).
beging to think geting my cdl was a joke

Already got the 'no thank you' email from the trash company; they're not interested. In my area, even trash companies want experience.

So whatever baldness to the op? Probably nothing good since he's no longer posting

Wrong time of year. But concrete company's are always hiring. They have about the same turnover as OTR. Cannot find people that really want to work hard. And it can be very hard work.
Also does not pay that great lol, but it is a job.
Dumps are about the same, though allot less work.
When applying for a local construction type company. Show up in clothing you could work in. Good boots. Work shirt. Jeans. Make sure they are clean. No t's
Talk to someone in charge, not the secretary. She will have a standard answer. Don't just go in and ask for an App.
Ask if they are looking for a driver. You never know.
It worked for me every time I tried in the past 20 years.
Also go to an agency that does professional temp workers. Like manpower.
Some company's will hire local drivers that way. Since they can try them out for a month or so, and don't have to worry about insurance or comp. Then if they work out they will hire them on full time.Scott101 Thanks this. -
A local concrete company here had an ad for mixer and dump drivers in the paper a few weeks ago . It seemed odd to me . They are union and I suspected they were preparing for a strike .
