I appreciate the feedback. I was considering these two due to logistics to where I live. My understanding is I don't qualify for Workforce because I am employeed, but I will ask again. I would rather attend the local school (SWATC) here in Cedar City. I will try and continue to figure a way to attend this particular school. I have talked and asked around and they have a good reputation. One driver said their students end up having 6 months road experience by the time they graduate their course, and have good recruiting for local companies. I also talked to a Conway recruiter back in October and they didn't have any room until January for their training program, but by now those positions may be filled by now. I ask the local drivers questions, and one said to pay attention to the freeway and see which companies have more trucks passing by, that that would give me an idea of posssible ease considering home time (LOL....HOME TIME, yeah right)....also considered walking into local companies and ask if they would be interested in sponsering me top attend and reimburse through payroll

The $1995 for the England school sounds good. I have read a lot of bad things about CR England but I was wondering how there school is. Does anyone have any knowledge about just their school? Any input would be appreciated.
I plan on attending truck driving school in March. I am waiting until after the winter. I know a lot of time will be spent on the pads, either watching others backing, parking, etc. and I would rather be able to watch it without fighting temperatures, wind, snow, etc.. Also time is needed for learning the pre trip inspection parts and I want to be able to concentrate on that very important part of the trucking schooling. March 2nd. is my tentative start date.
Any input on just the quality of the schools would be appreciated.

Didn't mentioned Swift, but I won't go with them either; also too many bad reviews...
Again, like I said, I would not consider going with CR England knowing all the crap you read about them, therefore I could care less about what they offer...
You always focus on the bad ones, now let's see the good ones: Prime is one of them:
From their own website:
A PRIME Opportunity to Become a Pro Driver!
Train on site 4 days - Obtain permit.
Drive on the road 3-4 weeks with a CDL instructor.
Return, pass Skills Test - Obtain Class A CDL.
Team with a trainer for 4-6 months with guaranteed pay.
NO COST TO YOU IF YOU STAY 1 YEAR!
$1750 if you stay 6 months.
Maximum note - $3500 - No Interest!
Going to an independent school would cost me more, (if I decide of course, to work for Prime at the end) Western Pacific Truck School in Stockton or Modesto in California is asking $4500. And for both I have heard mostly good reviews. -
CRST, Stevens Transport, Prime inc, Central Refrigerated... All have company sponsored training. There are others out there, too. Through my research I would try these first. They all have their ups and downs, but its on you to make the final decision. It's your career.

Roehl, Millis, Werner, and FFE also have company sponsored training.
They all have their pros and cons -
Prime's training seems to be one of the better company training schools, based on what you've written and what I've read on them.
I personally just wouldn't go to a company school, period for the main reason that I've articulated here - the lack of OPTIONS of where to work after school.
Just today I received my 5th hiring approval and invitation to attend orientation. So, when I graduate, I'll have AT LEAST 5 options, maybe more by that time, whereas had I gone to a company school, I'd have exactly ONE.
I don't know anything about that school. I'm sure you've done your research and know far more about them than I do.
I am glad to know that you're at least considering/looking into an independent school.
I wish you the best with whatever you decide.

Is this one of those "Which of these does not belong with the other ones test?"
Because there is definitely one and maybe two that does not belong to be even mentioned in the same category with the other two.

There are lots of companies that have schools, but just because they have them, does not mean that one should attend them.

And BTW, all company schools have one thing in common and that is that they provide you with exactly ONE opportunity of where to work after graduation -- the company whose course you just completed.
I personally like to have OPTIONS. That's why I chose an independent school, and more specifically a community college course over a "CDL mill". -
Any decent driving school is going to teach you the pre-trip inspection as a basic part of the course. So, there's no need to delay your training trying to learn the "pre-trip inspection parts" before going to school.
As for CR England, I think that you should do A LOT MORE RESEARCH before you decide that's the place to go.
Read this thread and my previous posting talking about the CR England school and see if they still "sound good" afterwards.
I would encourage you to look for an independent school for the reasons I've cited in this thread repeatedly.
And don't forget to consider community college courses as well. And be sure to research the possible sources of funding available for your training. The first place I'd start is at my local employment/workforce office to determine if you're eligible for any workforce training grants, etc.
Of course, most independent schools, just like most company schools are more than happy to "finance" your tuition for you, usually at a hefty interest rate with "no interest for 6 months" scams, etc. READ AND UNDERSTAND THE FINE PRINT OF ANY TRAINING/FINANCING AGREEMENT BEFORE YOU SIGN IT!Roadfreedom Thanks this. -
Thank you

Ok, that`s good for you, and it sounds like you do have a few that you would like to work for, but at the end what`s gonna make you choose one from another?
