There are a lot of people in safety/compliance that don't read or understand the full scope of the regulations... I just do it as a hobby. :biggrin_2559:

You are working for one of the big service companies? I have worked for several of them in the past. Although the potential for them to be fined and have their permit revoked is there, I would be surprised if anything like that actually happened unless a very, very serious incident occurred.

Small in my case which I kinda like. About 100 people. They are pretty good at compliance, but with some personnel changes recently its a bit trickier to figure out who the go-to people are right now.

The info from this thread prompted a good discussion with the office this morning and we should have a plan in place shortly plus hopefully some better communication to the guys on the ground (like me). :biggrin_2552:

    Thanks for the help!!

I have a question about hos on how to split sleeper time as my window time from the pick up point in lima ohio to delivery in oakville is almost 10hrs and only takes about 6 hrs driving timeto get to oakville from lima ohio. Usally total driving time is 12 hrs but then how to be legal to drive agian after delivery in oakville.

You don't really gain splitting hours with American HOS . The split only interrupts the 14 hours , doesn't restart it . Say you spent 1 hour loading then drove 6 hours and took an 8 hour sleeper break . You would only have the balance of the 14/11 left - 7 hours , 5 of which could be driving before taking another break .
In your case if that got you across the border and you could use Canada's HOS to complete the trip it might work .

A couple of years ago I attended a course on Canadian Federal Hours of Service. At the time I was told when flagging my location in my log book I could use city, town, hwy jct, county, or municipal district. Every driver I talk to say counties and MDs won't work. The legislation reads municipality. Could someone clarify this? I also know you can use an LSD if you have one. Thnx in advance.

Wondering how to log an entire month off, I've been told writing "September Off" in the remarks column is not acceptable.
