Both Companys have 16% or LESS OOS rate which is VERY GOOD, but if you look above TMC's scores are allot lower (which is a good thing). If a company has high score that is a sign they dont take care of their equipment and run their drivers to hard, which WILL effect YOUR score as well, and also waste more of of your time going threw scales....or being inspected.

Percentages can be decieving. Percentage pay is based on rates. If a company hauls cheap freight then the driver gets a low pay. I only get 23% and I made out like a bandit this year.

I have heard lots of negatives on TMC along the lines of strickness. Can't understand that part, but some guys say they like it. PGT drivers have all seemed satisfied and it appears they are turning the fleet over now. Home time is my big factor, it's no fun making money with no time to enjoy it!

Something to also consider when looking at the CSA reports. TMC is much larger (2,500) trucks compared to PGT's (900)

That means if (1) PGT driver does something stupid, it has a much larger effect on the scores. (Its all averages)... Think back to school. If you got a F you had to get a whole bunch of A's to turn that F into a C. Just saying the reports can certainly point out a horrible company, but you have to consider the whole picture as well. Electronic logs can also play a big part in why TMC's numbers are lower (i think a good bit of PGT still uses paper form what i have read)

I decided to contact PGT, and pursue that option because like Miz said, it is hard to find any complaints about PGT, and easy to find praise. People in general will go out of there way to complain, the fact there are not many rants about them I see as a very good indicator they treat drivers well. TMC on the other hand... well there are quite a few "F you TMC" threads.

THE big black chromed Pete's look nice, but you can put a new coat of paint on a pinto and make it look nice.(not calling the Pete a pinto, back off guys :p) And there whole "Tarp Everything" mantra is a bit off a turn off, as is there Hazmat requirement. (which I currently do not have)

I had to weigh the options, and for me everything easily leaned towards PGT. As for the trucks, well as the new guy I dont mind paying my dues in an old beater as long as it runs well. With PGT it seems you have the opportunity to get better equipment based on performance. From what I have read about TMC, if you roll into the yard with your truck not up to showroom standards, you can be fired or fined. They seem to be far more obsessed with equipment than people. Even there website dangles the equipment in front of you like candy.

Ultimately what I realized is as much as I do love the 13speed, and all the room, and the chrome at the end of the day I am a truck driver, not a limo driver. I realized I am looking for a company not a truck, and I came to the conclusion that PGT is a much better company.

ohh i think someone asked when i was at CRE, i did training in Dallas in Nov 08
