I want to get started with my own truck, an F-450 ford with a 7.3 liter engine .I am having trouble finding insurance .I tried once before and had to pay 300 per month.

If it takes that, I cant do it.

Can anyone give me he name of a good insurance co. who can furnish insurance reasonably??

I doubt it will be any cheaper than that, when I called around you have to have cargo and liablity both can be pricey, progressive is good if you don't plan on running more than 500 miles out. Heck I pay 300 a month to insure my car

Had a friend who went out on their own with pulling RV's and their insurance was about 8,000 a year. This was in 2006.

At least I hope so ! I cant imagine paying 300 per month for automobile insurance, unless you are making payments on a mazurati .

Check with Sagamore insurance, Great West and so forth.

After you do, let us know if we were pulling your leg.

In the D, insurance for a cab in '08 was $8600 for bare bones coverage and that was bulk discount. A independent could expect to pay $9000+ and you had to pay it off in 6mths. The meter was $2.50 start and $1.75 per mile. I say this cause I am wondering if expediting/hotshot is as bad?
As aside it is estimated that 80%+ of the drivers in the D do not have car insurance and when you figure in the metro area it is something like 65%. I am going to guess that Boston, NYC, Jersey, and LA are similar.

@ Flatbedif you plan to hot shot and run your own authority you can go ahead and get ready to pay at least that probably gonna be closer to 400 or 500. No adays you have to have 1,000,000 liabailty and have coverage for cargo which for big truck is 100,000 minimum. Especialy if its your authority. At least that is the case for me but im drivn big truck but hot shot pickup and flatbead would still need these requirments to get in anywhere. Especially oilfeild. Just something to think about.
Also if you've had accidents or tickets will effect you too. Now a days I think they even run your credit. Not sure on that one

Yes they run your credit. Depending on your age, credit report, driving record, verifiable CMV driving experience and whether or not you finance you are looking at $7,000 - $12,000 per year for $1,000,000 liability and $100,000.00 cargo. Then you'll need insurance coverage on your truck and your trailer, that's additional.

When I was hauling cars, I carried $1Mil liability and $250K cargo. I paid for the year up front, no financing. It was about $6,400.00 per year.
