Company drivers - save your fuel receipts

    There is a lot of BS that we have to put up with. Just one example is hours of service. And then they keep jacking with it, every couple yrs just when we figure it out and how to run it right. For a "non-regulated" industry we sure have a major truck load of rules to put up with.
    If you want and education stop at a truck stop some time and ask them for the "DOT bible" or the regulation handbook. It won't cost a lot and if you need some thing to put you to sleep buy one and take it home and try to read it. I hope you are a lawyer.





    IF its your first trip with that power unit into the state you can stop at the first scale you come to and buy the permit from them. AFTER that you must call ahead and order one to be faxed to you, or buy the annual permit if you do a lot of loads to OR. I believe you can now do it online as well.
    They'll have your truck info in the computer and will know if you try to tell them that its your first trip when it isn't.

    The problem with this premise is that some places, i.e., pilot have a "no reciept system." if your company subcribes to that system.

    In other cases, like mine, we usually run terminal to terminal so there are no fuel reciepts.

    I don't feel you would have been cited provided you could provide a valid excuse as to why you had no fuel reciepts. Then again, i've never been to oregon but once.

    Easy answer for this. Don't buy fuel in Oregon, or at least don't log it until you leave the State ;)

    The trooper did not specifically say anything about which state a fuel reciept should be from. But I assume he wanted one from OR (the only one I had) to ensure that I entered the fuel permit number (license plate number). I would also assume that if you don't fuel in OR, then you don't have to provide paper. Don't take my word for that, though.

    Also, the truck did have current IFTA permits, but that doesn't mean too much in OR. You need to have the OR PUC permit or you will be coughing up some dough when you get caught without it. Company drivers - check your permit book for the OR PUC permit (if your company has that permit). While you're at it, might as well make sure all of your permits are up to date. An ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure.

    Somebody mentioned that Pilot does not give receipts. They do at the self service driver kiosk inside.

    where do I get an Oregon permit? I need one today and it is saturday. i tried to find one online but I can't seem to find anything.
    please help me!

    last time i went thru OR i got stopped at the POE told to park, went in and paid my WDT their.

    if you do a lot of running in that state and dont want to pay, they require you to post a bond. then pay at the end of month? or qtr.
