I had 3 1/2 months with Werner till I had an accident. Been thinking everyone wants 6 months experience to a year to hire anyone. Is it possible to hire on and retrain with Swift?

I'm a mentor with Swift and Fontana is my home terminal but based out of Lancaster in most cases they want 6 months otr before getting on a dedicated route if you get trained on a dedicated route some will take you right from the start but no guarantee.

It is possible need to check with recruiter and explain your situation , but I think no more then 1 accident in 3 years is requirement and you may need to go out with a mentor still.

    Belton Bandit Thanks this.

Thanks for the reply desert_son. That's my only accident in over 28 years and to me unavoidable but know all accidents are preventable in companies eyes. I trained western region and drove Jan - Mar in snowy nasty weather with no incedent. I-70 and Californias nasty mountain pass, forgot the name. So I got potential I think. I assumed I waould have to do the mentor training like a CDL graduate, but thats cool to be doing what I love.

Does anyone know where orientation would be for a Texan?

I find that the employee's opinion of any employer has a direct reflection to the employer's opinion of the employee. I don't know a person willing to deal with all the stress of running a business that doesn't at some level believe they are offering a positive employment opportunity. That said... not everyone is doing as well as they think in their company management.
Merrit built this country into the world dominant business leader, the entitlement mentality of many employees today is quickly tearing us down. Next time you feel a whine building from within, think of what it would be like in the society your attitude is enhancing. Earn your pay, and thank God you have a job.

    just my two cents!

I started this thread four years and three months ago. I'm still here after just over 5 years and still am completely happy here.
