I was curious if anyone has installed the id or messenger unit in the truck themselves or if it can be done.Ive got an 02 pete and was wondering if the harness is already in the dash.Any idea on how much they're worth,thanks..

I installed it in my 98' 379. I got one from a local wrecking yard for arond $120. It was a smaller CAT ID with four buttons at the bottom. The harness was in the dash but connector in my truck was different than the one on the CAT ID so I went back to the wrecking yard got the connector and wired it to my truck harness. More than a year since and it works fine.

When I installed one in my 97 379 it had a separate pair of curly wires with a data link label taped to it behind the dash above where you plug into it.
its very straight forward install, ground wire, keyed hot, data +,and data -
cat had sold me a extra harness to plug straight into the ecm that I didn't need. You would have had to find the right plug and install the pins, so you could go that way if you wanted to.
