Im new just 3 months of OTR and I enjoy driving just getting used to sleeping in a running truck my problem is im used to day job getting up in morning and sleeping at night. The other day picked up a load at 8:00 pm then headed out got to about 1:00 am and my eyelids were flickering rapidly. Headed to first truck stop and slept till 7:00 am. still had 6 hours of driving left and got the load delivered at 200 pm. Maybe i can find a local run day shift only. What can i do?:biggrin_25518:

It will take a while, but you will adapt to sleeping at odd hours!

it'll get easyer the more you do it. I can stay awake for days, but if im driving its a differant story. When i first started out OTR i was good until 2am, then i started getting REALLY tired. Then i could start my day at 6am and be fine, but between 2am and 6 am it was hard to stay awake. As time went on i found it easyer and easyer to stay awake later and later and start my day earlyer and earlyer.

Now its exciting to run all night, since i rarely do it. I like to start at like 8pm and drive till 7 am :biggrin_25525: Makes ya feel like a real trucker when you out truckin all night blastin some good tunes while everyone else is sleeping.

Don't give up, just take it easy and it'll get better.

Start pulling a flatbed. Flatbedders rarely load after bankers hours.
We work to hard tarping to not get to sleep at night.

does the tractor need work? Why would you buy it if you were not planning to be an owner operator?
