Just purchased 2000 Fld120, with detroit 60. After driving it for about 30 minutes, noticed the engine surges, up to 1500 rpm's when idled(intermittently).

Once its in gear, it will lower rpms, enough to start off, but then intermittently throughout the gears the engine will begin to surge again.

Check engine light will also just intermittently come on, its currently not on.300K miles

I'm not to knowledgeable on this engine or this issue, is it a common one, or something that needs to be taken into the dealership for?

Heard a guy calling in a Sirius Roaddog show state that his Detroit did that... turned out that one needed new injectors.

Can you get the flash codes out of it?

I'm going to try to get that done tomorrow, or Sat. Will post them once I find out.
Looks like it may not be a common issue.

Take it to a dealer, or someone with the proper program to monitor the Throttle position sensor, Never heard of injector doing anything by themselves, they are just slave solenoids from the ECM.
I would clean the battery connections, and the ECM wires and fuses, and every ground cable, or you will pay some one to do it.
I would also look in the fuel tank with a flashlight to see if it is sucking air or blowing combustion into the fuel system

Took it in to the dealer to pull codes, and that's exactly all it was, the sensor in the pedal.
