They can really be a pita. I've had multiple drivers call with issues with HD and there's nothing I can do but try to get them detention and waiting time pay.

We frequently haul bagged salt and topsoil to HD stores- very rarely do I have a problem. Usually they get it off ASAP-

The one time they said they didn't have time to unload me until the next day- I politely said "no problem, I'll just sell it"

    The truck got unloaded....

I deliver lumber to Home Depot's all over California. Most are pretty cool, a few of them are a-holes. A lot of the stores have their receiving hours & procedures determined by neighborhood noise ordinances. I think it's Woodland Hills that has a neighbor in the condo's next door that has a camera and noise meter trained on them 24-7. Hollywood has to unload you in the parking lot, so they can't start til after the store closes at midnight. I try to keep notes on each location so I will know which ones won't or can't take me early, if there's parking or food on site etc. I appreciate that each store has a clean bathroom and cold Coca Cola.

I also haul into the Lowe's DC in Beaumont. They can be Nazi's about appointment times.

I've never had much of a problem at Home Depots....Some of them try to be nasty for whatever reasons but after a few munutes of them not being capable of pissing me off they just take their freight and off I go.

Some of them are like the morons on CB base stations...If they can't piss you off and get a reaction, It's not fun for them.
Too many stupid truck drivers give them exactly what they want!

update on the check in/ check out at the DC's in the SW area, they have a new compute system that works great, in and out, even when they are busy. Might be my new favorite place to drop and hook!:biggrin_2559:

I'm going to drop at the Home Depot DC in McDonnough, GA on Monday. Picking up at the Toro facility here in El Paso. The pickup is a piece of cake. My dispatcher works it so I have a couple days off for the pickup, we drop the trailer off on Wednesday and pick it up on Friday for delivery on Monday. It's normally a drop and hook Werner load but since we are using our trailer for it we have to give them time to load it, lol.

The unload in GA isn't bad, the only problem I had last time was showing up too early. No problem, I left and went back to the small truckstop down the road and had me some Waffle House!

I had the bad experience of being booked on a load that delivered to a Home Depot DC outside of Birmingham, AL through a L/S agent - I'm leased on with an approved L/S carrier. There were red flags as I spoke with the agent on the phone as I was picking the load up. Something about "you can deliver up to 14 hours before your appt time of 10:30am" which struck me as odd being that any DC I had ever delivered a dry box load at in the past 12 years was basically appt only on live unloads. But for whatever reason i didn't question it. So I get to the DC and come to find out this is a drop and hook only DC that does not do live unloads at all. The only trucks going in there were big companies, JB, SNI, L/S, etc. So I end up having to drop my trailer there that friday afternoon, bobtailing home 165 miles, then back down this past wednesday night to get my empty. I had a long weekend at the house and got compensated for the loss of my trailer through their corporate office. The agent is no longer affiliated with them after this mess. Everything turned out ok, all in all. I believe the compensation was a tad low but really not all that bad for what it was and my weekly revenue actually took a huge spike upwards. They did not have to give me zilch. I still think they are a stand up company. One bad apple agent does not make a company.

As I type, I am waiting to be unloaded at the Home Depot in Lawton Oklahoma. I don't mind delivering to Depots Monday thru Thursday....hey, I'm salary....who cares....but on Friday? I much rather deliver to Lowes cuz they usually work harder there. So.....its gonna be a late night for me as I will wait....and wait....and wait....HOME DEPOT SUCKS

It's off Exit 216 on the west side of I75, take GA155 south and turn off at Greenwood Industrial Parkway. I can't remember what all was there but it might have been Pep Boys and Summit. Home Depot is the last complex on Greenwood before you enter the residential (no trucks allowed) section of the road.

There's a tiny truckstop right off the interstate with a Waffle House next door. The Waffle House has truck parking too. Those old ladies were super nice, I left them a big tip.
