Again you have been gone from Knight for how long? If you talk to a couple of there drivers you would know that they have changed some things since CSA- One which is shops open 7 days a week not the 5 when you worked there 2. The bunk heaters if working properly will turn on and off based on the temperature setting and are run on fuel not battery powered. 3. The fleet is newer with many more trucks with 4 battery's then when you worked there so less battery problems. 4. They do not advertise that they have APU's so a driver knows that going in.
I have never had a issue with batteries at any company and if you know how to run a truck and you do have a issue you simply call breakdown tell them you tried to jump the truck and it won't start and you need service.
Knight will defiantly try to avoid a 100+ service fee and have another driver help get it started so it is best to carry cables if you have the 3 battery setup but proper pretrips and service rite ups on a and b service will keep you on the road. And not at billy bobs stump hauling pining for the glory days when you where not waiting for a day to get enough money on a account to get fuel and your payroll checks did not bounce.
Do not work for knight transportation!!!

OK, I've got to say it - What does this have to do with Knight?
Your point is good. I don't know who you work for, but just about ANY company will have both drivers who hate them, and drivers who love them. And a lot of it depends on the attitude of the driver, going in.
However, there is no denying that some companies are better to work for than others are.
Who are you working for now blue? I remember you saying something about not working for Knight yourself, but you had a friend there? Just curious. -

My friend has not been driving for Knight for awhile. She is currently finishing up her accounting degree and driving local. and I work local but I do still do some OTR and I talk to the drivers alot since they have alot of frt in my area. About 1 out of 4 will say that knight sucks, but that is mostly due to miles or a dm. The number one complaint I hear about is dropping a mty at a shpr and then having to mty a trl out to get another load. Not this bs about idling. Most have found ways to handle that. That alone would keep me from working there, not to mention they have cut their raises to a half penny.

OK, I will be aware of TransAm.
Now, back to the Knight discussion.
(Where do these people come from?) -
And the "idle" thing:
The trucks are set up to not idle between 34 and 70.
70 degrees and you're hot? Wait a minute, and it will either drop below 70, at which time you should be comfortable (open the vents and/or windows), OR it will get hotter, and you can idle and run your air conditioner!
Below 70 and you are COLD? Run your bunk heater (may need to read and comprehend instructions), and down to around 20 degrees, if you have it on high, it will burn you right out of the truck. Or, set it correctly, and you will be more than comfortable.
Below 34 (or maybe now 28, I don't know), you can again idle, and be comfortable.
So far, the only downside to this system is that I can't idle in order to drown out the reefer that decides to park next to me.
I have to say, I just got into a new International (after 3.5 years here), and it is, despite being set to the Co speed limit, sweet! Waaaay better than the old Volvos, and even (I hate to admit it) better than the Pete I got out of.
Not near as COOL as the Pete, of course, but waaaay easier to drive.
Oops, sorry for the positive note about Knight, back to the bashing. -
You dirty dogg
