No problem with the "dig", I appreciate a good dig every now and then. And certainly have no problem dishing them out, so I can take them as well.
As for the training costs, I didn't realize that the orientation and OTR training costs them so much.
Actually Roehl was my #1 choice overall because, as you said, they do have multiple divisions (reefer, dry van, flatbed, etc.) and I liked the possibility of being able to do many different things and get all that experience without "job hopping".
I didn't want to go to a company school, but I did look into their school and it seemed better than the rest that I looked at from a cost/commitment standpoint.
But their recruiter told me that the "hiring committee was unable to offer me a position at this time". She didn't want to tell me why, but when I pressed her, she wouldn't come out and say for sure, but she hinted that it may have been an issue with my period of unemployment as well.
She did say that the "hiring committee" had written on my application packet "have applicant reapply once he has 6-months driving experience." So, hopefully that means that everything else looked okay and they'll be a possibility for my next job if/when I get ready to move from my first company.
Perhaps I should have just tried to go to the Roehl school instead of a community college, huh?
Thank you very much. I don't believe in "luck", but I do appreciate the sentiment.
And thank you so much for your good wishes for my mother, that's very kind of you. I guess she's doing as well as one can considering she's suffered from multiple pretty serious strokes in the last couple years and is in her 80s.![]()
I sincerely appreciate you thinking of her and expressing good wishes her.
Best wishes to you and your family. I'm glad to hear that your son is doing well at Roehl and I hope to join him there some day.![]()

Well after 18 months of being on active duty orders with the Air Guard, I'm going to start back to driving. I've already got 5 years of OTR under my belt & after talking to my former company & Maverick, I've decided on going with Maverick. The pay, home time, & miles really helped.
Have been reading some of the other post, & was wondering where I can get the 1500 watt inverter to get installed in my truck. -
You will more than likely get a truck that already had the inverter in it.
If for some reason you did not get a cascadia....which is unlikely, you would need to pay Maverick to install it. That is the only way you can have one on their trucks. Then if you change trucks....to another non cascadia truck, they would move it for free.
But like I said, it is unlikely that you will not get a newer truck...so you will not have to worry about it.
Best of luck! -
seawheeler and JimTheHut Thank this.
