Wolf, I think he's saying that he pulled over next to another driver who was undergoing DOT inspection. Once the DOT tickets the truck, the company will be required to repair or replace the tires, due to the OOS. As far as MY view of the CSA points, refer to my previous points.

yes they will be required to if he does it this time. the smarter thing to do is make it plain to the company that you will not move it until it is fixed, unless it is to a location to fix it. Keep a copy of your transcript, if you are fired for refusing to drive with faulty equipment you do have a case. Take pictures of the tire as well.

I'd back you IF we lived in a perfect world. Bear in mind that the OP lives in Michigan. Not an easy state to find work in, even as a driver. Not too long ago, plenty of carriers had hiring freezes on for people in Michigan, Florida, and parts of New England. It's not that easy to just walk away from a job, no matter how bad, when the prospects of finding another job are slim on the ground. Also, we know nothing about the OP's previous history. He may be stuck running with the small outfit he's with due to issues that disqualify him from finding another outfit to drive for.
Since this isn't a perfect world, and since bills show up whether you work or not, we sometimes have to deal with somewhat less than ideal situations to pay the bills and keep food on the table. As I recall, you yourself spent some time in a call center to keep the wolf from the door (chuckle), didn't ya Wolf?Express12$ Thanks this. -

Famous last words on a tombstone in a cemetery in Michigan: "I'm not worried about the CVSA score, they can't hurt me"
The man starved to death. No job, no food.
You really should take it seriously, it'll ruin a career. -

To be placed Out-of-Service a steer tire has to be less than 2⁄32-inch tread depth at two, adjacent, major tread grooves anywhere on tire.Easygoin said: ↑I'm not sure. I've been told by LEO's that EVERY tread must meet or exceed the 4/32 minimum, and I've been told that only the center grouping of treads are required. For drive or trailer tires 2/32" on a major tread groove gets you fined and points. Less than 1⁄32 inch tread depth at two, adjacent, major tread grooves at three separate locations on tire will warrant an Out-of-Service judgment. With duals, both tires must have a listed defect to warrant an Out-of-Service judgment.Click to expand...
