Maybe , but you could only run 34 hours . Your 36 hours count as on duty hours against the 70 hours allowed in 8 days .

 

Anything is possible if you're determined you don't wish to see retirement due to dying from physical exhaustion.

 

Trucking is an expensive hobby. Between plates & permits, insurance, truck note, and all of the other fixed expenses (expenses that are the same each month whether you work the truck or not) you're going to have, you aren't likely to find rates high enough consistently enough to make it worth your while to do it "part time"...especially just starting out.

 

Working strictly off loadboards and having to get back home at a certain time so you can work the weekend non driving job puts you at the mercy of either taking whatever rate is available to get home or eating a lot of deadhead. Neither being an ideal option and your bottom line will suffer terribly because of it. You need to be flexible chasing rates and I have found leaving Sunday afternoon and going home Friday costs me a lot of money. What works best for me is staying out 8 or 10 days then taking a 3 or 4 day "weekend" whenever. Don't think this will work for you unless you get lucky and score some regular direct freight out and back in, a perfect world sort of deal..
