At the end of 1st day of Orientation I'm heading home. To much rules that may be the way of new trucking. I really don't like to be told what route to take to get there. I don't like the fact that just due to tolls I can not go that way even though it cost me hours. I see that as a pay cut. I know that health insurance is tough for company's but when it goes from $30.00 for a family to $130 a week another pay cut. I don't like being forced dispatched. Where will i go next is a ? That is still not answered but i feel that i have to leave. I feel like Celadon did this deal right before Christmas just to trap drivers. Good luck to you all you drivers and Merry Christmas and God Bless

I haven't had a good feeling since I got the QC message.
I agree, the timing did trap us. I hate to quit before finding another job, and finding a job as good as GM is going to be tough. I like the smaller service oriented companies, and those are hard to find and tough to get into. I'm still in my wonderful old workhorse GM truck, but I find it telling that I delivered yesterday afternoon and still have no preplan. I'm going to hate parting with this truck. She may be older, she may not be shiny and pretty, but this is the best truck I've ever driven.

Good luck to you, too, and Merry Christmas.

I was thinking about this today.
Was there a specific example where you wanted to go one way but you were routed a different way? I can only think of two examples off the top of my head which are I-44 + I-35 vs US-69, or taking a few Ohio highways and back roads vs. the Ohio Turnpike.

The owner of Celadon will tell you that your job is safe and all that good grap until you get there. I was leased to Zipp when he bought us, about 3 months after the take over all the Zipp O/O's lost are dedicated lanes to Celadon company drivers. When he bought Burlington no one else was aloud to recruite Burlington drivers but Celadon. When you go to the Laredo area to deliver, lets say your del.is at exit 23 on 35 north of Laredo, First you go to Laredo terminal, get inspected, go thru dispatch then to the rec. unload and return bk to Laredo terminal, go inside to dispatch. At that time you will be able for dispatch. But the miles to the rec. and bk to the yard you dont get paid for.:biggrin_25513:
