Orderded the RFX 95 Is it just me or am I just stupid? Is this thing good for all radios or just for the Galaxy? I ordered it for the galaxy but is it te same for the cobra? Or do I just order another one?

    I would just get a amp ......

I'm not a fan of the addons you tear up a radio and if you don't like it your stuck.

They were actually designed for Magnum radios but will work on just about any radio.

You sure it wasn't an RFX-75? Regardless, it will not work well on a Galaxy. If that Galaxy has SSB, it will work even less. It works best on a Cobra. You're money would have been better spent on a small 2-pill amp.

Really? I hope not, I have one on my DX 949. So far it seems to be working ok. I guess maybe I should have put the thing on my Cobra 29.

On a Cobra 29, the RFX-75 has proven to reliably get between 100-120 bird watts PEP. Guaranteed you're not seeing that on any Galaxy. If you are, your meters are bad. What you're seeing on your Galaxy is something slightly north of the newer dual-mosfet radios (Galaxy included).

No, not seeing that, just around 65-70 PEP. Which for what I'm using it for is enough for now. I've read that if you push the Galaxy too much, you stand a good chance of burning up the finals. So I wasn't wanting the thing hot enough to cook eggs on.. :biggrin_255:

I think later on, if this one goes bad, I'll just get a small amp to plug into my Cobra.

Really Now? I run one thru a dry load on a 43 Byrd and net near 85 watts

Overall it isnt a bad mod for those on a budget, the RFX makes a lousy driver for most any amp so it ends with being what it is and not much more 85 watts pep
