The EPA isn't shutting anything down. And the prices are going to continue to go up on oil but, not till the end of next year. There is no way this is slowing down in the next 10 years!

I was just out there to line up work for a few trucks. If all new drilling stopped today, there is 10 years of frac sand hauling to do. Bubble burst? I don't think so. Same company that told me this was told by Haliburton that they needed to ramp up and add 100 more trucks by end of year. He's no where close to that!

2 Excavating companies I know out there, one north, one south. One of them has a contract to build 60 drill pads THIS WINTER! That's just one company. Was also told they need to double in size because of more work coming up.

On top of all the pads sites being built eastern Montana is set to go off as well. There are so many opportunities to start many other businesses besides driving it's not even funny.

Your truck and trailer can be paid for in months, not years, why wouldn't you go out there?

Gee, seems like I have seen this some place before? Oh yeah, real estate, tech, etc. $120/hr+ for a truck. At some point companies are going to say "can't get a return at these rates" and slow the growth. Then that guy with a $4000/mo payment for equipment that lost one of those jobs bids it at $80/hr so he doesn't lose his investment, and the ball starts rolling.

If you have the equipment, sure, run on up. But I talk to guys buying a $30,000 POS trailer for $60-70K so that they can get in on this. And these are guys from the South that have no clue about these winters.

Better make sure you have a contract with one of the large companies and see what the exit clause says.

This!!!! There are golden opportunities out there just waiting to be had.

One thing that has sparked my attention to the whole deal is not only thinking about what you know how to do. If you have the money and resources that area up there may as well be the moon, meaning. it is the wild frontier and very little are prepared for what is ahead of them.

I have a sneeky feeling that specialized safety gear will go for a premium as there probably wont a supply to match the demand... if you had a mind to go up there put up a shop and sold nothing but cold weather gear you'd make a killing.

I just think it is so funny to here all these predictions on how long it is going to last and these guys on here posting 10 or 20 years that is just hilarious, do you have a crystal ball? Look at the 80's oil boom and they were saying it was going to last for ever and one night someone turned the lights off and the party was over with. They said the same thing in 2007 and 2008 then we had an election and what happen 2009 sucked in the oil industry and some guys went broke fast, auction yards were full and nobody was hiring. They big strong companies survived the little guys that pinched and saved survived because they new how this industry is. The guys that bought everything on credit and didn't have the cash in the bank for bad times well they were calling the banks and the auctioneer to come get their stuff. One thing about it when it comes to an end it won't just get slow it will just end overnight that is the way it happens.

If I was going to North Dakota I would want to drive for someone else for the wages the are paying up their you can't beat it. A regular truck is not going to survive up their you need a truck spec'd for the job. What are you going to do when you break down and can't get into a shop for three or four weeks or put your truck on a wrecker and haul it 250 miles to a dealer. You maybe able to work on it yourself but get ready to pay high prices for parts and it is going to be cold on the side of the road.

What you need is to look at what is going to be left to haul when the drilling is down.

One entrepreneur here bought a large enclosed trailer and started a safety supply business and goes around to the oil companies. He has done very well for himself and keeps expanding.

I would buy a fleet of food trucks and hit the drilling rigs you would make a fortune. Here in Oklahoma I know of one barbecue joint that is hired by a oil company to cater food to the drill sites at lunch. The oil companies do this so they can keep the hands on the job.
