    I'm not sure what you are saying. Do you? But I would rather pay $50 over the $45. And I'd have a more powerful signal with less chance of a screw up on install.

    I thought the thread was about the tune up not to mod or not mod a radio or to add a an amp or not i think we got way off subject here. My opinion and only an opinion is no radio should be touched inside with out it being hooked up to a station monitor or a similar type test equipment. This is the only way it will be properly aligned and tuned to the desired out put and receive specifications. you can make a radio put out more watts and swing all the modulation you want on Dosey watt meter into an antenna. You put the same radio on a scope/Station Monitor and you will see exactly what it is really doing and where all that excess modulation is going. Now remember this is just my opinion and i have only been playing with radios for about 20 years and have been wrong before.

    Pick one;
    Your opinions fall to the depths of a public forum . . . . .
    Hopefully it isn't like Facebook and they actually delete here . . . . .
    They built bomb shelters in the 50's and 60's on the same precepts . . . .

    a stock 8watt radio is what you start with.today you dont have a chance being heard if you dont get it peaked n tuned.swing 8watts,or swing 25watts.if youve heard the cb latley,you'd know the difference.

    When the band is open you can work the world on 4 watts when closed 4,000,000 watts will not be enough .......

    Nothing has changed in 50 years .......
