I am not sure if you can still find them i haven't tryed in years. But they used to make a Ham international 10/11 meter antenna that was just like the old Penetrator with out the radials basicly a metal big stick this thing was cheap at the time and out performed a ANTRON 99 all the way. And as far the lightning thing the lightening suppressors are cheap and i always had a grounded copper bar with as many so 239's in it as i had coax's to screw into it that way all that power went to ground out side the shack

NEW ANTTENA FOR HAM ONLY ?

WOW never seen that on a listing before .....
    .

SPT-500 is specifically designed to accept AM-FM-SSB-DSB signals with low loss. Handles 1.5 killowatts. This antenna is illegal for 11 Meters use.

So it is illegal to use this antenna to SWL on the 11 meter international broadcast band??? :smt046

On a serious note, it maybe illegal to sell these as a CB antenna but is it actually illegal to use them on the the CB band????

If your antenna is up at your location. Who cares what band it's on? So I'd say no! Run where you want too.

Give me a break. No it is not illegal to use a metal antenna on 11 meters. You did not even bother to read the link you posted or you would not have made this statement. It is illegal to import or sell this antenna advertised for 11 meter use. So what, just buy your '10 meter' antenna and re-tune it.

Consider the Workman W58 or the Maco V5/8

both are awesome and they are twins, BUT the Workman is cheaper...

furthermore as for getting coax I would go to Ebay and check out DX radio City... iirc he has the Antenna and the coax, so you could get a package deal on shipping... just get the RG8x (mini)

sorry you are dead wrong... there is NO such thing as an antenna that is illegal for CB USE... as for marketing it toward CB'ers... it is all in the fine print... the only reason that it is not marketed that way is because the FCC thinks CB'er as stupid...

that is the ONLY thing that CB'ers can do whatever they want to do legally, well that and coax

GO READ MFJ CATALOG ...... it is THEIR STATMENT !

    http://www.hy-gain.com/Product.php?productid=SPT-500

I'm well aware it is not illegal to USE it is there way of covering themselves if a CB gets killed tring to put one up ......

The FCC had little to do with this law it is a safety law ....
