Somehow you seem to think it's my problem ..... My only problem is working very weak signal VHF radio ..... and don't give a rats tail about if you run on 1700 meters or 17 ........ Which I have been on at one time or another .

Take it up with the people who care about that part of the bands .... show your outstanding knolege of the radio world to them as for amps The only amp I'm looking at is a 400 watt 2 meter one .......

    WELL depends ......

SSB has been used for EME even with 230 DB path loss.

Now I have worked TEXAS on both SSB and 146.62 FM from here in Tampabay SO a bit of E-skip you can work TEXAS on FM and other states too however SSB or CW would be a better way to go ....

My station which is average I run a 24 db gain preamp at .5DB NF and can take FM down to under 2 KHZ bandwidth I do that all the time to pull weak stations out.

IF I had a 30 DB gain antenna like the station does in TEXAS a combined 60 db of antenna gain would reduse the needed gain to 170 DB figure my receiver at close to -130 DBM noise floor and running on both ends say + 50 DBM transmit power it could be done .....

But the wife has already said NO to 36 beams of 19 elm each and she has her general class ticket .....

O-Well nice dream while it lasted ....

that is kinda like saying 32 toshiba 2sc2879 transistors in parallel require the same amount of drive as a single sd 1446 transistor.

What a super tune is, depends on who does it. Not all radio technicians are created equal.
