im not quite sure where i should post this but if i have it in the wrong place if someone could put it where it belongs.

i played alot of music when i was in highschool and such mostly drums and have strayed away from it over the years. between moving to new areas a few times and living in a few apartments, so between loosing touch with people to play with and the fact that drums dont accompany themselves very well i havent realy done anything with music in probably 8 years althoguh its somthing that never realy leaves your blood.

i have been thinking about buying a gutair to take with me. i was never a very strong gutair player but could manage to put a few chords together never really practiced it much but it seems like a gutair would be somthing practical to take with me in the truck to get re-aquanted with my musical side and there are enoguh opportunitys to practice while in the truck.

how meany people carry gutairs with them in there truck? also what kind of guatars would people recomened. obviously i dont want a high dollar gutar boucing around in the truck with me all the time so somthing fairly thrifty also somthing easy to play for a novice player. would you sujest acustic or electic? if electric what kind of small amp would be well suited for truck travel?

Electric is easier to play. You can find cheap guitars just about anywhere. You can find a cheap "travel amp" on eBay. They are small and around ten bucks. Not the greatest sound but it would do.

I have a takemine 300 series acoustic that I take with me. Great guitar for the money. About $350 at guitar center definately gotta have a hard case as things tend to bounce in a truck. I've seen some guys carry thier drum kit with em on the top bunk and set up under an over pass when timr and parking allow. Great acoustics.

I have played junk & Great axes. It's your choice on how much you want to play. As far as having room, Get some velcro remove some interior screws and mount the axe on the wall. Easy to get to, and out of the way. :)

i drive in the nd oil feild kinda a shortage of overpasses..lol

350 seems like a good price point to me, i dont want to spend alot on a gutar that will be bouncing around in the truck, but dont want a peice of junk eaither. i have thought about the mounting on the back wall of the sleeper before, seems like a great idea.

any other sugestions on gutars around the same pricepoint of the one previously mentioned? i was thinking about posibly checking out what some pawnshops have to offer as well

I take my Ovation roundback... holds up great.

Google for Musicians Friend. Was an on-line store for guitars and such... very good prices.

That would work fine. I built a guitar out of parts I had and got a little practice amp like that one and its been in the truck for a year now and even with an unfinished neck everything works fine. You could power that amp with one of those cheap 100w inverters you plug into your cigarette lighter. it will be a little buzzy but the humbucker on that guitar would quiet it down some.

Don't worry about it bouncing too much. A good case will protect it. It'll most likely be out of tune everytime you stop but there's not much you can do about that.

Cheap guitars just aren't worth it. They usually have poorly made or warped necks which will pretty much make one chord in tune and the next completely out of it. The $350 guitar someone mentioned would be perfect for in the truck. I know the cheapo acoustic I have would get smashed after a long day at work before it'd get played. It's my camping guitar that I don't have to give a crap about while offroading through the desert to my camp spot.
