OK so today we meet this fellow Craig really energetic fun kind of guy who is a straight shooter and we get more of the talk about how often we will get home listen you will not get home every week I get it by now but some guys seem to be struggling with that so we cover it again.
We cover the qualcomm I never knew it was that important but it is a record of everything you do. Where you are and where your next load is coming from so I will make that bad-boy work for me and not against me.
Then he drops the bombshell tomorrow we all have an interview with the recruiting department. We take a physical pee in a cup and the agility test and if they all like what I do then they we offer me a job.Kind of get me stressed a little bit but at this point what can you do.(Time to pull down your pants and slide on the ice) I ask if I have to give the 50 bucks back if they don't hire me.
You know what amazes me I am going to live out of their truck but I haven't even seen what the inside of it looks like. Heck the only truck I have ever been in was the road trucks at school and they where pretty raggedy looking on the inside. I know to you experienced guys that probably sounds pretty dumb but hey this is where I am going to be living and what I am going to be driving how can I make an informed decision if I don't know all the details. I have no idea how much storage space it will have what I can outfit it with. Now to me that is like renting and apartment sight unseen I guess I should be happy that I can walk away if I don't like what I see. Any way will know more tomorrow later![]()
Have to start somewhere

Hey Daytona take a camera with you not a digital camera but one that has film(can not be doctored) if you get a message from your Qualcom telling you to do some thing you think is wrong you have a record of it and it can help you in the end. Some companies say that they never sent a message telling you to run over hours and when you get caught you have the proof
-
OK guys They gave me a badge but I am guessing I wont have a job offer till the drug screen comes back. The interview was kind of silly to me. lots of you have asked me about the physical so here goes. They do a range of motion on every joint on your body I don't think these are pass or fails they just want a baseline to see where you are at.
Then you do one sit-up. You lay flat on the floor on your stomach and lift your legs and your chest of the mat for about 45 seconds. They make you step up and down on one step for two minutes then they take your pulse rate. then you have to lift a box with about 25 pounds over your head. Then you have to pickup a box on the ground repeatedly while they add weights to it each time until it gets progressively heavier I am guessing it was around 140 pounds in it when they where done.
Then you go outside and have to climb up on the trailer once. Then came the tough one for me you had to lift the tarp on the trailer twice first time no problem but the second time it was not as smooth and it almost got away from me but I saved it with my knee it wasn't pretty but I did it good enough to pass. Then we had to jump up on a 5 foot high box on the flat bed and lower ourselves down Walk down about a two foot wide beam ten feet long then turnaround and comeback it was maybe 6 inches off the ground. The last thing was getting in and out of the truck while maintain three points of contact.
Thanks for the advice about the camera good idea They seem very safety oriented but that is here under ideal conditions who knows what it is out there. The experienced drivers all tell me that they are unlike other company's that they have worked for but they could tell me whatever they want I have no baseline to go by.I have to give them the benefit of the doubt till they prove otherwise. I'm starting School @ the end of September. I liked reading your log
-
Glad you enjoy it hope it takes some of the unknown out of what is going to happen.I paid my own way thru school with room and board it cost me $1750.00 at Arkansas state university so check your community colleges they are cheaper.
I took my road test with maverick today they are automatic trucks so it was easy to drive and in much better shape than our road trucks from school.Met our recruiters today and had a brief conversation with him.
They told us about their inverter policy has to be at least 1000 watts and you have to pay them to install it with their kit and they will move it for you if you change trucks.Lots of safety talks are you noticing a trend here they are deadly serious about safety.
They talked to us about fuel bonus best I can gather anything over 6 mpg get you a 1 cent per mile bonus they tell us it is attainable if you just don't idle when you set the brake and watch your right foot and you can get it.I will just be happy to drive and not wreck the truck guess that is about it tomorrow is job offer day and securment training I sure hope they keep me later -
Congrats daytona. You should do fine. You got past that agility test. 140 lbs huh, I better start hitting the weights. How high up did you have to lift the final 140 lbs? I hope not over your head. BOL.
-
OK You only have to lift that weight to your stomach. They started out the morning talking about safety until 11 then they took us into a computer room in front of everybody's chair there was a pair of work gloves a hat and a sealed cup. They had us log on to the computer confirm that all the information was correct and accept the job offer then all the instructors came by shook your hand and welcomed you it was all pretty cool.In the afternoon it was more safety and they gave us our logbooks and we where done .Later

I just left there this morning. I got my truck serviced there yesterday and was waiting to get a trailer swap to get me home today for my daughters surgery Fri morning. I was watching TV and talking to a bunch of you last nite. You might have been one of them I was talking too.
