Steve,
It sound great that you are doing so well....I have a few questions though about the process....
1. I have had my CDL's for about 15 years now, most of that experience was in driving tri axle dump trucks, so I know that doesn't count, but last year my bro in law helped me get my Maryland class A CDL, and I have been driving a Pete 379, with a 42' dump trailer hoping this would help in that dept....Does it?
2. Someone earlier mentioned driving regional, and how does that work out with lease programs like yours? How often home, and how many miles per week?
3. How long are you tied to the lease? And what are people talking about when they talk of Prime bonuses?
Anyway, that is a start. I hope you don't get tired of your web log of your experience here, so far I find it very insightful....Thanks...

Time for Prime.....

Man....if I answered any questions about Tanker-Yankin'.....I'd be makin' stuff up. I don't know much about that side of the game at all. It would seem that you would keep the same trailer a lot of the time tho....cuz we don't have that many tankers in the fleet. I'll try to get some more info about it for you....
and not from a recruiter either.

Hope this helps.....

Would appreciate any inside info you can give me.

Does anyone know about the Primes flatbed division? ive been drivin trucks for awhile but this will be the first time OTR a lil bit scare lol
-
I know a couple flatberdders and they love it. I'm leaving Sep 23 for the oreantation and can't wait. If you have any business savy at all you can make money with a lease. Personally when you hear people complanin about not making money with a lease they are just not willing to work hard and smart. I know at least 6 people leasing with Prime and their all making money. If you have 30k to drop for a down payment on a purchase of a new truck then go right ahead, if not the lease is a viable option.
Start your lease wit a truck that is 2 years old and only has 1 year on the lease so you pick up the lease completion bonus and make some money. Plus you have a lower payment and decide if this is for you.
Prime has turned into a #### good company and you'll be hard to find a driver who works for them that will say differently. -
I have about 8 bucks for a down payment. lol. I talked to them on the phone earlier today i don't know when i go to orientation, but they said i would have to run with someone for about 3 weeks because i have done most of my driving locally
-
Yeah their real saftey and training orientated which to me is not a bad thing. When's your oreintation? looks like I'll be there Sept 25
