Picked up at purina in Denver and headed over to the pilot to scale. That place sucks. On my second weigh I was navigating through the itsy bitsy lot and stopped myself just before ripping the front end off of a brand new ProStar, one of Knights trucks. I might have been able to get a piece of paper between the front of my tandems and his hood. I was rushing, I know stupid me, the clock runs out the clock runs out. Had to weigh a total of three times to get this load legal and take on fuel.
So to all the newer drivers out there, including myself, screw everything else, take your time. Pay attention. Don't rush for anything, or anyone. Learn from my mistake rather than having one of your own.

thats not luck. that was just you realizing you were rushing for no dang good reason and could have took off a hood for nothing
-
Too easy to dwell on the negative of you rushing etc
Look on the positive, you were still paying enough attention and checking your mirrors in a turn, AS YOU ALWAYS SHOULD, and caught your mistake before it became catastrophic!
BTW, it probably wouldn't have been the first hood ripped off in that lot this week. I avoid that place AT ALL costsDozzer6 Thanks this. -
I got sent there to fuel. Had no choice.

I agree pilot on Denver sucks I put as much fuel.as I can so I do not have to fuel there. I got stuck.almost two hours and scaled 3 times.
-
not like you have a choice...you're not supposed to fill on your way to denver (within several hundred miles) because 9x out of 10 you get Coors, and you need to be as light as possible to haul them. If you're lucky, you might get the TA at 266 to fuel up to 100gallons, and not have to deal with the dump that is the Pilot
platinum Thanks this. -
dont you jokers have onboard scales ,hmmm think they invented in usa
-
Some do, some don't. They aren't 100% accurate. And Mr. DOT won't be amused if you say "well my scale thingy here says I'm legal."
-
As funny as that sounds, load cells could be adapted into trucking easy enough, and inexpensive as well. just something the driving public has to demand.
-
Yeah just one more thing to go wrong.
