Great post. If us trainees had to learn everything first we would never be qualified to go solo. I trained with Tony for a week and he taught me a lot. He was also a good teacher. Instead of telling me exactly how to do something he just said I was doing it a little wrong and to figure out how to do it better.
May trainers! UNITE!

@Steve... Great post! I made a great choice in companies. I begin orientation on Tuesday in Brooks and look forward to working with a great group of individuals. Getting back in the saddle will be good!

@Scooter... I had a student that wanted me to drop her off in Corning, CA and pick her up after I delivered in Seattle. LOL told her ok but to take all her stuff! The company called her and advised her that she had successfully ended her relationship with them. I won't even get into the mornings that she "wasn't up to driving"..

Your right about that... If it is the same Tony I'm thinking of then yeah, he is a a good guy.
How long you been solo now ? You doing okay out there? -
Thank you, I do appreciate the nice comments. I look forward to seeing you on the road. I'm at the phx terminal often. So, if you get down this way be sure to let me put a face with the name! Later brother!

Not solo yet. I was only able to go out for a week before Tony had to get back home for the Christmas. I want some experience in winter driving before I go solo so my next trip will be east (I hope) I am meeting Robert in Brooks tomorrow morning.

Well good luck to you. Not sure who Robert is I don't think. Keep us posted on your status. Will do what we can to help when we can!

I wish I coulda had one of you guys as a trainer. I had 2 trainers, the 1st one Ed had never trained before, whatta nightmare, broke up with his girlfriend the 1st day in the truck, had severe diabetes with a blood sugar rating of 215, so he had bad mood swings and was tired all the time. Had to stop at every pilot ect. for sodas and every rest stop for bathroom breaks. Our 14 ran out in East L.A. one night so I had to spend the night in the truck at Richie Valens community park, while he spent the night at his parents. In Phoenix he went to a sports bar, said he was gonna stay at his sisters, bout 2300 there's a banging on the truck door, there's Ed raving drunk staggering around wanting to know what I was doing (I was trying to sleep). Next day, as I was driving he was trying to sleep off a brutal hangover and was in a foul mood. Lasted 9 day's with him, come close to smacking him even though I had 20 odd years on him. Next trainer was Kid Rock, had 30 years on him so I was a little nervous, what a great trainer he was, I soloed out 10 days later thanks to him. anyway thank god training was over.

You need to notify your terminal manager or even Kathy in Brooks about the first trainer. You are not supposed to drink any alcohol while under a load. Big big no no.
